More about the team
Formally Ormesby Athletic the team was started up back in 2009/10 season for fun and participation in local games and matches within the Teesborough league. In 2010/2011 season we became the Red Lion after aqquiring sponsorship from aptly named pub, The Red Lion, The village, Linthorpe, formally Union Jaxx.
This was to be our transitionary season and we went onto win the division 2 title and come runners up in the Hunter Cup final, this has been our best season yet. The following season we were promoted and didnt start off too well and were on the end of some awful games that we threw away from leading positions, the end of the season we done well and hardly dropped a point in our last 5 matches.
The Teesborough league has also been through some changes and looks well on its way to being ran back at its best, with the league having 2 divisions and around 28 teams making them up, and new sponsorship this season from 4four2.
Our aims for the season have to be the Division 1 title and at least a good cup run with a final being the goal. This should be helped by the fact we have managed to aqquire The Fortress, Ormesby Road pitch 4 where we have only lost twice in 3 years for the coming season, so should be full of confidence especially with the team we now have.
Coaches and managers are Richard Steel(manager), Alan Steel(coach) and Hisham Ahmed (secretary).
If anyone is interested in joining the team please feel free to contact any of the above, or pop along to one of our home games(fixtures can be found on the fixtures page) and come and see us.
BEST of Luck for all involved with The Red Lion past and present and hopefully this will be a season to remember for all the right reasons.
