Home league match played on 24 April 2011.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

WE are officially division 2 champs for the 2010/2011 season well done to everyone thats took part and helped in our season and done their bit.

The game started out with us knowing that we only needed a point to mathematically make sure the league was ours, maybe the pressure took its toll in the game as in the first half we looked jittery infront of goal and at the back.

We have to hand it to Scruffys who had a new look team and were vastly improved since the last time we played them, they took the initiative and after a start that was pretty much them for the first 5 minutes then us for the rest they scored first against the run of play, when there was a hopeful ball played through that the striker tapped in to put them 1-0 up after 15 minutes.

We continued to create a lot of chances and put the pressure on and had the majority of the possession and came close with Shatty, Morley and myself all coming near to scoring within the half an hour. From through balls that were played for M.Wildon who fired just wide, to decent efforts by Morley on the edge, a long shot by T.Rogers, and headers from set pieces by me, we were creating more chances in one half than we have done in 2-3 games put together at some points in the season.

In the 26th minute a scruffies break which started on their right side after a defensive mistake came down the pitch and a ball was floated in to their un-marked striker to head in from 5 yards out.

We were ontop in the game and could have had 3-4 goals by this point yet we found ourselves 2-0 down after Scruffys had 2 or 3 chances.

We got outselves back in the game with a corner, the standard of which were the best we've had all season from A.morley with 5-6 of them leading to good chances infront of goal. The quality of which one proved when a low ball was drilled into the box for R.Steel to pounce on at the front post and smash the ball into the top of the net on 32 minutes.

Finally the break through we were after, when we'd created so many chances yet didnt have much to show for our efforts.

the game was played out with us again having the better of the chances and majority of the play.

A Scruffys corner in the 40th minute was met at the front post by their striker who scored a great overhead kick at the near post to put them 3-1 ahead at half time.

We gathered our heads, picked ourselves up and came out for the 2nd half firing on all cyclinders, again we created chances had some decent passing going and then finally took the chance after C.Blackburn scored from the right hand side after being played in by A.morley to grab a goal and get us back into a game that we never looked like we should have been out of.

Our defence was solid and we started to get hold of the ball more in midfield which led to what was for me the best move of our season and started from the back and was played forward. After A.morley picked the ball up in midfield and played it into R.Steels feet a neat flick back to him saw A.Morley place the ball in the side netting of the far post from 35 yards out. A neat one-two with probably the best finish of the season to secure the point that we needed to win the league and a worthy goal to cap off our league season.

Scruffys were only limited to half chances and 3-3 was the final score.

Again a massive well done and yet another come back after being 2-0 down, the mentality of the team seems to be galvanized by our ability to score late goals and come back when we're behind in games.

A couple of players had excellent games Myself, ater the last game i was determined to well which i felt i did and probably had one the best games of football i've had this season,R.Steel who was excellent first half and A.morley who done what he does every week and keep his consistent streak going.

All were in with a shout for m.o.m but i took it this week.

This kind of mentality and team cohesion should serve us well in the final and give us hope for next season playing the 1st division.

Hunter Cup final will be our last official game of this season with the chance of winning 2 cups this season lets go out there and do it.

COME ON THE LION!!!
