More about the team
History
Prescot Argyle FC is a Sunday league football team established in 2008.
The team is the collective brain child of James Valentine, Michael Doyle, James Long and David Shepherd. The committee of the football club therefore consists of these 4 stalwarts of amatur football. Having been a fairly successful power league team, the lack of genuine 11 a-side football was starting to get the boys down and after recruiting a few players the decision was taken to join a league. Warrington Sunday League was the chosen destination and in August 2008, the football club was born. Originally put forward as Athletico Heath FC, the name was changed when a generous local business offered to buy us a kit. Rainproof Roofing were then born and affilliated with the FA as a genuine football club. The name was then changed to Prescot Argyle. The first season was pretty much spent trying players and learning positions and just geting a feel for the league and ended up finnishing 2nd to the bottom of division 3. This wasn't a dissapointment though as we knew what we were up against and it was just good to get a season under our belts. The new season 2009/10 looks alot more promising and after a very successful pre season I firmly believe will be one of the top sides in the division with early results backing up the claim. The continuity at the club has been good and despite the struggle, the finances are also ticking over nicely. Hopefully we will be an established side for years to come
