Warrington Sunday League
The Warrington Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Warrington, England. It was founded in 1925 and currently has over 100 teams competing in various divisions. The league is affiliated to the Football Association and its teams are eligible to compete in the FA Sunday Cup.
History
The Warrington Sunday League was founded in 1925 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four teams, but it grew rapidly in the following years. By the 1950s, the league had over 50 teams and it was one of the largest Sunday leagues in the country.
The league has continued to grow in recent years and it now has over 100 teams. The league is divided into four divisions: Premier Division, Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3. The top teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the Cheshire County League, while the bottom teams in Division 3 are relegated to the Warrington District League.
Current Season
The 2023-24 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by Blackburne Arms FC, who have won all of their matches so far. Other teams in contention for the title include Tetleys FC, Cheshire Cheese FC, and Brookvale FC.
