More about the team
Brantham Badgers, founded and managed by Justin Vince and Guy Clubb are the new team playing at Brantham Leisure Centre ( home of Brantham Athletic FC) on a Sunday morning. The core of the squad played for BT Research, who finished 7th in RM4 of the Flare Recruitment League last season.
The name started as a private joke after a dead badger was found in the car park last season. That week the team played an absolute stormer, and on their team website later that day one of the players suggested that they should dedicate their win to the badger, the joke then snowballed and the team has been referring to themselves as 'The Badgers' ever since.
When the time came to think of a name for the new team Justin and Guy Clubb were setting up there was only ever one option. The team will be playing in in blue and white stripes, not only to keep the badger theme running, but also to give the club their own identity within the football club. People may think the name funny, but the team are not a joke side. Other teams can under estimate them all they like, but the management team are confident that they can cause a few upsets in the coming campaign.
The majority of the squad have strong links with Brantham Athletic, and although everyone is a few years older and a few pounds heavier than when they last pulled on a blue shirt everyone is excited about playing at the Leisure Centre in the coming season. The team have been provisionally placed in RM of the Flare Recuitment League for the coming 2009-2010 season.
