This week the Badgers visited a rather frosty Bucklesham. Despite the pitch being frozen both the home team and the referee insisted the game went ahead so the boys braved the sub zero temperatures and got changed pitch side due to Buckleshams lack of changing rooms.

The game started slowly with both sides feeling their way into the match, despite defending for large parts of the first 15 minutes, Bucklesham never really threatened Ash Bowdlers goal. Badgers started to become more involved in the game and Glen Bones had the ball in the net following good play by Jamie Carrington and Craig Clarke only for the linesman to flag for offside.

Just minutes later a long ball into the Badgers box was poorly dealt with by the defence, the ball dropping to the strikers feet just yards out, leaving Ash in the Badgers goal no chance. 1-0.

The goal sparked Brantham into life, with greg Ranson and Terry Percival controlling the midfield. Sean Kearney saw a good cross flash past the post and Craig Clarke fired over when well placed. The half finished 1-0.

The Badgers started the second half slower than the first and although Bucklesham never really looked like scoring, neither did Brantham.

Bucklesham had resorted to long range efforts, whilst the Badgers looked to capitalise on set piece's. Joint manager Guy Clubb having a bullet header tipped round the post by Shannon keeper.

Brantham were nearly responsible for their own downfall again when an attempted short freekick left the Shannon striker one on one with Ash Bowdler who made a terrific one handed save. Bowdler again came to the rescue minutes later when another long range strike looked destined for the top corner.

As the game came to an end, the Badgers pushed 3 up top, and in the dying moments of the game had their second disallowed goal of the game following a Lee Clarke long throw. The latest decision left a bit of a sour taste in the Badgers mouth's after a game that should have really ended in a draw.

Special mention to MOTM Terry Percival for a quality performance, especially 1st half, Justin Vince for doing a great job for the team despite playing out of position and Jamie Carrington for his endless running up top. The less we say about Backhouses chest the better.

Big Show.
