Washington New Tavern ran out 4-1 winners against a United side which had 23 players available!
Fairly even first half with United having most of the chances and should have been ahead on 41 mins when Chris Brown was clean through and tried to put it past the keeper but he managed to tip it wide. 2 minutes later New Tavern took the lead when a break down the right was finished with a miss hit shot which wrong footed keeper Steve Barnes and went into the net.
The first half had been halted for 15 minutes due to a member of the New Tavern crowd needing medical assistance from the Ambulance Service. All at Wear United wish him well and hope he recovers quickly.
New Tavern controlled the second half and could have double their lead just after half time but a fantastic diving save from Steve Barnes kept it out. But it was 2-0 on 61 minutes when a ball across from the left was turned into an empty net
It was 3-0 on 67 minutes when a ball over the top released the New Tavern player who was 1 on 1 with Steve Barnes and he kept his nerve to finish well
United pulled one back on 73 minutes. A direct free kick from 25 yards was brilliantly placed into the net by United's man of the match Dan Musther and the United touchline were hoping for a comeback but New Tavern killed the game off in the final minutes. On 88 minutes another 1 on 1 was put over but it was 4-1 a minute later when the referee didn't give a suspicious offside and the ball was played across and put in from 3 yards out
