Playing against a younger Ala Carte FC in e 1st match of the group stage, it was crucial to hit off on the right note. With the luxury of 16 players to choose from, UN1TED set out to attack using a 4-5-1 with emphasis on wing play.
UN1TED kept the pressure but could not find the elusive 1st goal. Close chance midway thru e 1st half from a freekick. Daniel swerved it in with Ashiq rising highest to meet his cross but the Ala Carte keeper was equal to it.
Deadlock was finally broken 10mins to HT when a Daniel thru ball was slotted home by Anand with a cool finish! 1-0!
UN1TED had a chance to go 2 up when Shaheer slid a ball square on but Dinesh just missed connecting the touch.
2nd Half
UN1TED keep e pressure and Jason nearly doubled e lead with a lob that came off the crossbar. By now UN1TED was dictating play as frustration crept in for Ala Carte with dirty tackles n harsh words. UN1TED matched e aggression in style.
10mins in a diagonal cross from Ashiq was volleyed 1st time by Jason into e top corner! 2-0!
UN1TED get e 3rd moments after Ala Carte have a man sent off for profanities against e referee. Jax who was muscling e midfield with Capt Raman delivered a low cross which was dummied by Jason for Shaheer to make it 3-0 and on cue the Heavens open up..!
With the floodgates open and rain pouring, UN1TED had the fire to battle. Shaheer Aslam Anand Jason all had chances to put away and the closest came for Nash to dribble and smash his shot which bounced off the crossbar and down and out... (Camera replay showing ball had not crossed e line).
UN1TED do get their 4th and Jason's 2nd of the match when a melee led him to slot one in off the near post.
A resounding back to back victory on their Anniversary.. UN1TED show their intent on a gd cup run.
