This game saw us get back to winning ways after last weeks set back. This we did it with only eleven players some of whom were still carrying injuries! The game got off to a flyer when Gerald launched one of his trademark long throws which caused chaos in Perry Streets box. The ball skipped through a cluster of players to the feet of Callum who promptly smashed the ball home from a tight angle leaving the keeper statuesque! That was enough to settle our nerves, and from then on in we never looked in any trouble....... although the Ref done his best to help the other team with some crazy decisions? We had a flurry of corners which unfortunatly we couldn't capitalise on due to Perry Street beating us to the ball on most occasions. Tyler was at his best again when he made a good save from Perry Streets secret weapon, ( a very long throw ) that was latched onto by the striker who got his shot off. By this time it was clear to see that Perry Street only really had two moves. One being their number 2 (vanilla ice) who had the long throw and secondly, shoving players in the back which to our open mouthed fans the Ref actually gave us the correct decision for! It took us until the 37th minute to add to our goals when Connor closed down the defender who panicked and made a hash of it, for Connor to rob him and beat the keeper easily. 2-0. Just 2 minutes later Connor once again scored when he followed up his own shot which rebounded off of the post after a great cross from Callum. Half time 3 -0. Unfortunately the referee did not improve in the second half, with the manager from Perry Street joking with us when he said "I am glad I gave the ref that extra tenner before the game". Even he could not believe the decisions being given against us!! Luckily it didn't take long for us to score again when Jack added to the goals in the 47th minute after another great cross for Mr Assist (aka Connor). This kept up Jacks record of scoring in every game this season. Connor and Callum had the freedom of the wings but unfortunately the ball wasn't getting out to them enough as Perry Street had got their second wind and were beginning to close us down quickly with their number 11 (the smallest player on the pitch) beating us to the ball every time. This lead to Perry Street scoring in the 50th minute when they finally managed to get a shot past Tyler. We made many more runs down the wings but wasn't able to turn them into goals and it just wasn't going our way even when Callum hit a beautiful long range shot which looked destined for the net, only to be denied when it hit the bar!! Rhys, (coming back from injured) did a great job and was rewarded when he smashed the ball home from 20 yards out with a screamer after a good passing move from the team and much to his dads delight! The game appeared to have run it's course and was almost at an end, when possibly the worst decision of the day was made in the 79th minute. Tyler was penalised for bravely coming out to the strikers feet and deflecting the ball out of the box only for the referee to point to the penalty spot much to the disbelief of all the supporters, home and away!!! Perry Street duly scored from the penalty in virtually the last kick of the game. What a waste of £26.00, that could of gone to the guide dog that the referee clearly left at home. Now I know why he wanted paying before the game started!!
