Victory Club 0-3 Chaplins
The Victory club sucumbed to another defeat, this time against Chaplins. The Victory started okay passing the ball round nicely but has been so often the case lacked the killer punch.
On the 11th minute some slack marking allowed the Chaplin's forward "Bear" to have a long range shot which wasn't the strongest but managed to slip through Swan's grasp. The Victory 'keeper didn't need to be told that it was a poor error from a goalkeeper of his calibre.
The Victory though responded well with Rodgers going close with a header and a Smiles shot sailed wide.
Just before half time Victory Skipper Greg Davison unsually mis-judged the flight of the 'Keepers clearence this allowed one time Victory target David Snowden to run through but Swan tipped his effort onto the bar and then quickly got back to his feet to make an outstanding save from "Bear's" follow up.
Half Time
The Victory were still a little flat with the game settling into a lull. Chaplins had a player booked after he took out a number of players throughout the game.
The game was finely ballanced and both teams knew that the next goal would be decisive - unfortunately Chaplins got it a free kick was smashed towards goal which Swan was able to tip onto the bar only for the rebound to fall straight to a Chaplins player who headed the ball into the net. The Victory defending though was a little static to say the least. The third goal followed from a corner the ball whipped in seemed to be going straight to Simon Mountford but Lee Skelland collided with him and the ball fell to the forward who rammed it home to make it three!
The Victory continued to play Smith froced a good save from the keeper and Davison put a header over the bar.
The Victory tried to play football but a decisive cutting edge is proving to be their downfall time after time. Next up is a home match vs. Ashbrooke S.C. Second Division Kings Arms FC 3 2 Chesters X1 FC New Derby 2 2 The Guide Post
