The match was rushed to even get started for the 6-30, with players missing due to work and injuries it was an opportunity for players to prove themselves and for sure they did.
At the start through the first 10 minutes it was clear that Saracens were here for the win competing hard in every tackle and were physical in approach this was a shock for our team who were given a wake up call when they broke on the left hand side coming through into the centre , with there striker peeling off receiving the ball and slotting into our net , But the ref had spotted that he had gone to soon and was clearly offside. Through there complaints the decision stood.
Our players woke up and realised that they were in a game we were a lot more bullish in our approach strong and vocal, With Wayne Allert picking the ball up in the centre putting a lovely ball to Martin Watkiss who in turn slid it through to Dec Sarge on the left hand side , Dec ran down the wing almost to the line wiping in a shot slamming in the top left corner of the goal it was a screamer some say he crossed it but only he knows it was lovely. 1-0 Credit to Saracen kept coming but Craig Wilson was here and what a game he was having strong vocal an absolute rock in the nets ,been clattered, throwing himself as everything, the rest of the players saw this and were battling hard to keep this lead through to half time.
As the players came off for a deserved break looking uncomfortable and drained they knew they were in a game but i said to them how well they all were doing and that we are competing battling and were strong it was a dog fight of a game but we were creating chance after chance and had more of the ball just keep it up.
We started the second half even more determined first to the ball keeping it better and competing, we soaked up the pressure the back three working together Neil Matthews Duke Charles and Paul Nickolls who through this period was making tackles sliding strongly winning the ball brilliantly what a game he was having also, But it remained a dodgy 1-0 and with Martin Watkiss now dropping back deeper to protect this lead we looked dangerous on the break, especially with Faith Cody picking up the ball and linking up with Martin Lymer on the right. They kept coming with there player picking the ball up about 35 yards out on the left hand side hitting it sweetly it was going in top right Craig Wilson Scrambled back and diving up and left what a save it was brilliant he was having a great game with both sets of players and fans applauding. We needed a change Paul Nickolls was struggling now so Carl Lancett came on at the back and give them fresh legs and Dec Sarge who had a fantastic game also was tiring so Lincoln Chuma went up front and Jake Podmore a unsung hero of the match dropping in to his preferred left hand side. We were on top winning everything first and second balls Martin Watkiss again dropping back to pick up the ball playing it up to Lincoln who had two men around him but it didn't matter he'd already seen the keeper on his line and with a lovely chip it was 2-0 to the Staff Of Life. We saw the the remaining time out and won the game. In closing I like to say that the team performance was outstanding and thats what wins games well done lads.
