As the Manager this game was always a nervy one, and i think the players were the same as they through out the game were playing not only plaza but themselves. The pitch was like a carpet perfect for this game this gave our players the incentive and the hunger to perform. The match started and we took our game straight to Plaza for the first ten minutes they didn't see much of the ball as our shape was sure and we were both solid in attack and defence with Neil Matthews at the heart. As this continued through the next twenty minutes the game became more open especially when jake Podmore Picked up the ball picking out Martin Lymer who passed it through to Martin Watkiss with a lovely lob gave us the lead.
But this was Short lived as we remained on at each other they won a corner which they promptly equalised with, the set piece was crisp and at pace but we didn't deserve to lose the lead, this got worst as Paul Nicholls made three Strong tackles winning the ball remained on the floor it was clear was hurt and needed to be replace Dan Lapato Came in to the right side off the defence and straight away was put under pressure resulting in them winning a free Kick on there left hand side parallel with 6 yard box , the ball was whipped in low and hard With Wayne Allert trying his best to clear the ball it spun up into the roof of the next.
2-1 we where behind still arguing among ourselves and it seemed like we were working together winning the ball winning a corner and Danny Nicklin going close for us to bring it level, we've come through our rough patch even though plaza had the lead and momentum we still battled and with Martin Lymer winning the ball again playing it to Martin Watkiss who took the player on and smashed it home , the equaliser !!!!!! The team was lifted up beat and together. In the mean time Dan Lapato had become ill i mean he was yellow didn't look good had to get him off Carl Lancett Came on and we switched Danny Nicklin to right side of the defence and carl left, with immediate effect when Carl Lancett picked up the ball taking it up the park past one then two sliding it through to Faith Cody who Carried it forward again slotting it to Martin Lymer !! What a Goal the keeper had no chance it was amazing so good match of the day would have it as an goal of the year ( hope thats ok Lymer mate :-) ) . Anyway Back to it, Now at 3-2 we were upbeat and yet still trying to beat ourselves coming in to half time. At half time we again were saying how we needed to remain together and encourage one another.
Second half a different team was on the pitch encouraging and strong , Plaza were struggling to keep us at bay we were creating chance after chance young Declan cutting inside and shooting from distance Martin watkiss and Martin Lymer creating chance after chance , another chance from a corner Dec Picking out Danny Nicklin who went close , With Wayne Allert breaking down the left cutting in and flashing the ball across the box , were we ever going get this fourth and needed goal, Plaza where also now have a few chances off a throw in coming close but Dan Was making time and space for him self sliding the ball through for Faith Cody to sprint down the wing cutting inside and shooting from close range he was unlucky but I'm sure no one else would have passed it :-) . Again Faith was involved his energy levels was superb forcing them back and then A very tired Martin Lymer put pressure on there defence they lost it ,it was one on one Lymer shimmied taking past and slotting it in the back of the net the fourth and winning Goal for us !! seeing the game out and closing thought so proud and hoping the team are beginning to see how good they are together as a team.
