Home league match played on 30 September 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Two poor performances on the bounce by the Bournes needed to be put right, but the opponents for today’s game where high flying top of the league DFDS. DFDS have been unbeaten so far all season and would be a hard club to pull off a result against.

Before the game even started you could tell that the Bournes wanted to do well and put the past results behind them. There was less joking around and a lot more focus on the job in hand. After an effort straight from the kick off from DFDS which was tipped over the bar by keeper Greg Williams, DFDS looked second best as the Bournes seemed to be winning the battles all over the pitch. Jack Stuckey had been brought into midfield for this game and Darren Sutton was given a job to do wide right, both had excellent games and it wasn’t long before Stuckey found the Bournes striker Jack Griffin  who then shot from outside the area to beat the DFDS keeper and put the Bournes 1-0 up and way on top. Greg Williams had to make a couple of good saves but on the whole the Bournes were in control playing, and looking, like the decent team they are.

The second half went much the same way as the first half. Sutton managed to score the Bournes second goal and Tom Bushell should have had a third when he headed in, but a very dodgy lines mans decision cancelled that out! The great performance from the Bournes was overshadowed by a very bad injury to the Bournes Player of the season (for the last two seasons) Craig Lang who damaged his knee ligaments and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital. Everyone involved with the club wish him all the best and hope that he has a speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing him playing again soon. Not to finish on a bad note there were excellent performances from Jack Bushell, at right back who was making his first league start and got the managers pick, from Adam Fairclough, who was on his first game back after injury, and from Fairclough who slotted in at centre half and had a great performance and didn’t look like he missed a game. Chris Drew got given man of the match with a much improved performance than recent weeks. Every player wearing a Bournes shirt had an excellent game and made for a very strong team performance. Well done lads!!

Good luck Langy see you back soon!!
