What a great team effort & a great result.
At the 6th time of asking we finally beat Coventry City with an excellent team performance.
I knew in our current form if we turn up in the right frame of mind we can beat anyone, I did wonder when we went 1 down to a very good strike after 10 minutes but the way the girls responded was excellent.
Charlottes first of the day got us level and a real top draw long range free kick from Holly put our noses in front, yes we did come under some pressure from Coventry but this was dealt with well & Coventry didn’t really have many clear chances.
Just before half time something I never believed I would ever see happened Neve scored with a header, it wasn’t quite a 40m diving header but a header is a header even if it was from only about 6 inches out it was still a goal & still a header !!
Well done Neve.
The game at this point was ours to loose but the girls kept to their jobs very well & continued to work hard, get their challenges in be first to the ball, this effort was rewarded by Issy pouncing on a quickly taken corner by Charlotte & just before the final whistle Charlotte slotted in her second of the day.
A great win that keeps us in a strong league position, lets hope we can do the same again when we meet Coventry again at home next week.
