Where do I start with this match report?????

After last week I was told players were going to weddings in Scotland, were injured, playig County Cricket,Bridesmaid dress fittings...and We were down to 6 players !

Warwick Angels Manager kindly said he was happy for us to cancel, but The League said we had not provided 14 days notice and would be fined!... So, determined to play  I set about recruiting.

Mike Chief Scout - Did a sterling job and came up with a few Bosman signings...Chloe, Connie and Stacey from the old  Woodstar Rangers...

Then, from nowehere...our regular players said they were available....So, Saturday morning arrived and We had 14 players !!!! Just enough room in the dugout !!!

Our new signings started the match - after their kind offer to help us out.

Within minutes, maybe even the first attack - the ball was intercepted by Laurice and she passed to Connie who passed it onto Kiera who thread it through to Amber whose shot hit the post and rebounded to Kiera who followed up to score!. A great start...and sure Kiera dedicated that goal to her new baby sister!

That goal came as a real shock to Warwick...and a poor goal kick fell to Amber who managed to toe poke a second goal !

The pink panther ( Holly) was kicking out of hands like a missile launcher !...another booming kick downfield fell to Amber who touched it through to Georgiamai...but the shot was blasted over the bar.

Kiera was continuing where she left off last week - and showed some nice skills and passing.Again the ball falling to Georgiamai who failed to capitalise.

Warwick then struck back with a terrific individual powerful  mazy run - the shot was struck with such venom that even Hollys outstretched new gloves could not hold. The ball rifled into the top corner.....2-1....was this the comeback?...would the Starlands girls heads drop?... NO ! is the answer.

Starlands were soon 3-1 up with another Georgiamai shot saved but Hannah playing in an advanced role burying the rebound.

Half time came and all the girls had played superb.

Stacey who was sat just infront of the back four was advancing forward to latch onto balls and dispatch them forward. Some cruncking tackles and plenty of effort.

Chloe and Connie looked assured on the defensive flanks - and did exactly what they needed to. Making tackles and clearing when necessary but also  looking for a wider ball to the midfield.

Samantha was her usual industrious self, getting in the way and breaking up play.Hannah was strong and the front two Amber and Georgia could have had plenty of goals.

In the second half, Laurice made a fantastic break from her own half charging forward..before laying the ball through to Amber. She twisted and turned her defender inside the box and shot to make it 4-1.

A hand ball gave Starlands another opportunity to score...but it wasnt Georgiamai's day today...she placed it wide of the post....However, she soon made ammends and got her rewards for her efforts with a lovely goal smashed into the roof of the net after a lovely run into the box.

Samantha was unlucky not to score, having palyed 10 minutes up front...shooting just wide with one as she penetrated into the box,,,and the second opportunity just hitting the ground and falling to the goalkeeper who was having a terrific game - as was the The Angels No.3....strong and speedy.

Ellie - who had taken a knock earlier - was back on the pitch - and was a new player after a few words from her Mum. ( Thanks Sharon ) it certainly had the desired effect.

She was sitting just behind the front two and was able to get hold of the ball and play that killer pass that we know she can do. Well, she picked up the ball on the edge of the Angels box, made a lovely turn and banged a superb goal into the far corner ! a Worldy ! and 6-1

Grace - was playing really well down the flanks - taking on players and getting a few lovely crosses into the box.More encouranging was her physical presence, she got stuck in and never gave up giving a 100% and did really well.

The new trio of girls were continuing to play with assured composure - and without doubt made a real difference. The tried and tested Chloe G , Sinead and Laurice looked even better with the others around them - and were never really troubled.

Holly whenever required came off her line and collected with confidence - calling for the ball, diving and kicking with so much power!....

And so the game finished....a terrific start for us...and puts us up to 5th in the league!!!!  HELP I'VE A NOSE BLEED....WE'VE NEVER BEEN SO HIGH :)
