LFC SG hosting SESC for the first time at Bedok Green Secondary, with both teams missing some key players.
Before the kick-off, there was a minute of silence observed in respect to the recent passing of LFC SG's Adi father.
The game started with both teams cancelling each other out in possession but Team SESC seemed to be up for the game more winning most of the loose ball challenges.
At about 20 minutes later, a ball from Giles sneaked between the LFC SG defence and found Khoo Tian who tried to wrap the ball around his feet to shoot. He did well with an angled shot but it crashed off the bar and back into play. No damage done.
There were a few late challenges from both teams with Eddie getting into the book midway through the half. Giles was not convinced so he seemingly screamed something at the direction of the referee. The man in black was not very pleased with that so waved his card to Eddie at first then Giles.
There was another chance that fell to Khoo Tian 10 minutes later but this time he did not get the right contact to the ball and LFC SG got away again.
The gaffer Fahmy then brought on Eugene for Wei Terk as the LFC SG right wing was trying to create problems there with some incisive moments. However their final ball could not find their strikers in the box or outside it.
A couple of freekicks outside the box awarded between 10 minutes away from the break which SESC had squandered all of it. LFC SG had their best opportunity when a foul by Norman just outside of the box was looking dangerously close to be interpreted as a penalty. That resulting freekick cleared the wall and also well above the crossbar.
Half time comes and SESC made a few changes with Izat and Yusuf coming in trying to instill some meat in attack and stability at their own half respectively.
The game resumed with LFC SG looking more in control and did try to cause few problem.
Midway into the half, a backdoor pass to their onrushing striker who was cleared to shoot until Ronnie came rushing out and the shot came but found Ronnie's palm and just flew over the bar for a corner.
It was 60% possession then to LFC SG when they had a few through balls that did not manage to find their players in SESC box.
SESC was given a chance when a team passing found Izat who took the ball from middle of the field and dashed towards the goalkeeper, Wira who was ready for the shot until Izat miscue his shot.
Towards the last 10 minutes of the game, LFC SG got a freekick just outside the area and a beautifully taken curler cleared the wall but Ronnie jumped across to the top corner to his right to tip it over for a corner.
In the dying minutes, LFC SG again managed to put the ball behind SESC's central defenders and it seemed their striker Muhmad Hafiq destined to lash into goal but a last minute challenge by Yusuf got the ball away for a corner. What a saviour and what a superbly timed intervention!
The scoreline finished when it started and a fair result on what seemed like an unlikely sporting display of sportsmanship for both teams despite the referee dishing out 8 cards in total.
Overall, SESC defenders did reasonably well and the overall team effort was commendable.
