Luke had a very good game in goals today made some excellent saves and was switched on the whole game. Made a very difficult save look easy in the first half due to how good his position was and tipping it past the post with ease. Probably the busiest he has been this season to be honest and he made it look easy even though it wasn't there was some powerful shots at him. His distribution was great aswell today dominated his area aswell coming off his line for some clearances. Very good performance.
Leo had a great game the confidence is coming along even more now as we know he can do it and a few more runs like that he will be brimming with self belief that he can do it. Solid at the back as always read some runs to perfection and didn't look stretched at any point in the game.
Levi was captain this week due to earning trainer of the week and showed with some great ranges of passing with through balls and tracking back to stop play showing some real bursts of speed to get back into position, His corners were inch perfect with his delivery every single time a captain's performance and showed that he wanted it more today a real solid display of football.
Arthur had a role he wasnt accustomed to today and he did this really well by using his speed to nullify the pace of the winger today by staying close which isn't in Arthur's game as we haven't asked him to do this before but he more than stood up to the challenge and the fact that we stopped that 9 times out of 10 was what was needed. Got to go further forward in the second half and was loving life again very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet due to a great save from the keeper but ended up with the assist. Another great performance.
Taaj also had the same role as Arthur and did this very well he was looking to press further forward but was getting back brilliant. Again had the pace to keep up and be more than a pain. One excellent header which stopped a three v one attack in the last few moments that little flick was enough to take a great pass away from them and knock it out for throw in.
Reeve had the best game I've seen him play today and he's had some great games, Not only because of his wonder strike but how he held his position well and was looking to knock the ball through to other players 3 through balls were absolutely brilliant with the cross field pass he was back in position to mop up and look to get the game moving forward in some very fast turnarounds. Awesome goal and read the game very well. Man of the match and a great goal.
Jacob had some brilliant movement upfront and was in the right place for at least 3 of the long balls. Was looking to get the pass off rather than holding up and going down a cul-de-sac with no where to go. Got some great passes off and other than a great save from the keeper was unfortunate not to add to his seasonal tally held his position from deadballs and worked the press back to put us back on the attack.
Henley some fantastic chasing down and some lovely early shots unfortunate to get another goal this week but his running and pressing is brilliant again had some very nice passes inside and was always nibbling at any loose ball and being an absolute nusiance upfront with his bitey style of play and desire to run. Another solid display
Harley had a very solid display looked to get to the ball well and again read the game was first back in covering when Leo pushed forward and had two breaks from the corner due to his alertness of looking to get the ball forward. We were a little worried he was carrying an injury at one point as he started to limp a little, turns out he was under the weather today but didn't want to let anyone down and was determined to play. Well done.
Tom had a very good game today could of bagged a hat trick with ease absolutely terrored the goalkeeper with that one run but sailed over unfortunately. Had some excellent runs and was always working to get in behind the backline and whip it back across the box to try and get someone on the end of it. Movement was great and really opened the play up again with it. Carried on going all game and was rewarded with a fox in the box style goal. Brilliant again.
Alex had a solid game with some nice tackles and runs unlucky not to get a goal from the lovely corner that came in. Played a sublime ball through to Arthur on the second goal and worked hard through the game. Took a heavy knock at the end but that's football. Well done.
A very good game from us today we didn't get sucked into the physical side of the game and played our style which was great to see. Fair play to Lions that was probably our most competitive game so far this season due to Luke being busy and having to tactically play a bit different.
We had loads and loads of chances and we are taking more and more now. Would be nice to go into a second half a bit more comfortable but our build up play has been brilliant past few weeks and the boys are really doing themselves proud.
One of better performances for me and we have taken a few things away from today to work on for the next few weeks in training to fine tune our style of play.
