The Royals defense well marshaled by Danial Latham, was doing well in dealing with the pacey Boreham attack. Ollie Hall who grew in confidence as the match progressed even found time to make a number of impressive surging runs forward. The match was very entertaining to watch with both sides going close to scoring, but it was the Royals who scored after 71 minutes. The match was being evenly contested, but in injury time it was Boreham who scored the decisive goal. The ball was crossed into the Red Star box and the Boreham player missing his header punched the ball into the net. Sadly none of the officials spotted the infringement. It was a disappointing way to lose a cup final, but all the Royals players involved in the match can take great credit for producing such an excellent battling performance.
