After the previous weeks memorable victory against league leaders Wallis. Players and supporters traveled to the match at Boreham in a optermistic mood. Sadly the visitors mood soon changed when they fell behind after only five minutes following a corner. Twelve minutes later Red Star went two goals down in unfortunate circumstances. The Boreham player clearly handled the ball on the half way line. but the referee who was well positioned to see the offence declined to blow his whistle. The Boreham player raced away and scored. The home side went near to increasing their advantage, and were only denied by three top class saves by Red Star keeper Nick.
The Royal's were very much in the game and created a number of dangerous attacks themselves. They won four corners, but sadly although they were taken by three different players the delivery on each occasion was disappointing. The Royal's finally opened their account when Brad who was producing another top class forward display, scored when his shot took a deflection off a Boreham defender. At half time it was 2 1 for the home side.
Sadly a couple of minutes after half time Red Star conceded a third goal. The Royals defender produced a reasonable clearance, but the Boreham player produced a stunning volley giving keeper Nick no chance. Despite finding the pacey Boreham side hard to deal with, the Royals were producing a battling performance. They scored a second on 52 minutes. James Aishford;s cross field ball found Lee, who produced a typical jinking run before he was hacked down in the penalty area. He took the penalty himself scoring with a low shot to the keepers left.
Nick in goal was having a fine game and was keeping his side in the game. With about twenty minutes left James Aishford was sent off for a second yellow card which was possibly rather harsh. However, he may have regretted at that moment the first yellow which was for kicking the ball away after conceding a free kick.
There were no further goals in the match, but The Royals kept going to the end.
