In this Peter Raynbird Cup Tie Pure Spartan as expected dominated the game from start to finish and racked up a convincing win!
With Injuries to key members of the Spartan defence manager Dave Ratcliff opted to play Lewis Bugden along side him at Centre Back and it turnt out to be an excellent decision as #MeggedOnARegs managed not to get nutmegged and put in a man of the match display nullyfying any chance Overton thought they might have in Attack.
The first half got underway and straight from the off Spartan controlled the game with interchanging passing and composure on the ball. Spartan gradually managed to carve open the Overton defence time after time and had early chances through Chris Dobbie, Dave Ratcliff and Anton Medford, It didnt take long for them to break the deadlock when Ollie Owen Cut in from the left to smash the ball home on 13minutes! Spartan created more chances with Overton failing to deal with the long throws of Dave Ratcliff it was onily a matter of time before they doubled their lead and on 26 minutes Jon Dawson obliged, A long throw from Ratcliff was easily converted and put Spartan in cruise control! The Scoreline somehow stayed the same until half time even after Ross Mortlock managed to hit a free kick off of one post on to the other!

The Second half was just as much of a cruise as the first half, Again chances through Chris Dobbie, Ollie Owen,Dave Ratcliff, Jon Dawson, Rossi Mortlock and Anton Medford but it was the unlikely Right back Craig Mugford who made it 3-0 a surging run from right back before he hit a half volley from 25 yards out into the bottom corner!
Overton did have one chance after a quick break but their strikers shot was superbly blocked by the impressive Lewis Bugden.
The game remained 3-0 and started to become repetitve and needed freshening up, Dave Ratcliff went into Midfield and Ross Mortlock into the heart of Centre back even winning headers and shouting 'NOT ON MY WATCH' When surrounded by 2 strikers, The subsequent change had an immediate effect as Anton Medford layed the ball of to Dave Ratcliff who turnt and played a through ball to Jon Dawson to smash home in off the post! Spartan wernt finished just yet after more good team work led to Anton Medford setting up Ollie Owen for his 2nd of the game! Overton hung on and kept the score to 5-0 even surviving a late penalty shout from Chris Dobbie.
Man of the Match Lewis Bugden, didnt have too much to do but everything he did have to he did brilliantly well!
Donkey Of The Day Ollie Owen for his petulant kick out at the opposition CB which he was lucky not to be sent off for.
