Nobody Inn Athletic Reserves 8 -1 Digby Lions
During the week the reserves lost last week’s wonder goal scorer Alan Hill & Mark Cadman (Hilly getting steaming and Cadders had some money to count) leaving the lads short of a left back, Danny Williams was looking to fill in after not starting the last 2 games but also got injured the day before the game. Banjo was away and Fabio Gramaca was called up in to the first team for tricky away tie to Osboureby leaving the gaffer with a head ache ahead of 2nd vs 3rd in the Grantham Sunday league crunch tie.
The management team (Bendy and Wally) decided on the team that would start the game and dropped experience centre Midfield Sully back into left back and also had to drop Luke Bristow back after recent impressive performances in the middle of the park. Liam Probert came back into midfield after missing out vs the First team last week he partnered 28 year Leigh Dixon in the middle with young Luke Abel playing his favoured number 10 position after sneaking a quick sleep in on the way to the game. Jason Luczak looking to add to his impressive start to the season retained his position up top. The gaffer was named as 3rd sub for the game.
Early morning Dramas again from Turbo, Who couldn’t find the pitch which is pretty standard as he is about as much use as Ann Franks, drum kit. Surprisingly Leigh Dixon the senior member of the squad turned up without any kit but was bailed out by the lads at short notice.
Kick off - Digby were on the back foot straight away as the goal keeper had to make a string of good saves leading to a few corners, Leigh Dixon could have had a first 20 minute hat-trick but was unlucky (USELESS) with a couple of back post headers, Luczak showed him how to do it and buried his 2ND chance with a beautiful glanced header from a Tom Power corner, Power was tearing the left back a new st Box and very quickly headed back across goal for Luczak to grab his second.
At this point Digby couldn’t get out there own half and 2-0 flattered the home side as Dixon (Again) hitting the bar with a bullet , Luczak, power, Jackson and Lord (eyes lit up and smashed one from 35 yards) all had chance to improve the lead but couldn’t, Frustration began to grow before eventually a great team move lead to a reversal of roles for Luczak to set up power and 3-0, The defence was called upon for the last 10 minutes of the 1st half but held strong, Liam Probert bossed the midfield like a young general and at one point new he had won the header before the keeper had kicked it.
Ht 3-0 reserves.
Second half was a stroll Digby came out pressuring but Sully and Bristow kept calm and moved the ball out the back beautifully Bristow was like a young Gary Neville. Tom Jackson had a quiet first half before eventually adding to his 5 in 7 goal ratio making it 6 in 8 with another neat finish. Straight from centre Jason Luczak closed down the keeper and then shot to score his hat trick with a goal all of his own making, Liam Probert added another to double his tally for the season smashing through a croud from a corner and the lad gave a quick finger to Luke “sat nav” Bristow. Aiden, Rob Luczak and the gaffer came off the bench after the hour as the game was in the Bag.
Digby did get one back to the frustration of the Nobods defence who were like the Ashford and Simpson song “solid as a rock” for the whole game.
But literally straight from kick off Robert Luczak had it large and pooned the ball into the net injuring the keeper in the process to add to his goal vs Ruskington 2 weeks prior.
Chance after chance came Nobods way but Digby tightened up, Abel was frustrated and out of all the attacking players maybe deserved a goal he never got, Dicko missed again from 5 yards after the Gaffer had put him through.
With 10 to go Abel found Wally in the box who was tripped before standing up and giving the keeper eyes and scoring for the 12th season In a row for the club.
A very good performance all round and a much deserved 3 points as Nobods up there goal difference to plus 25.
