Back ground: friendly pre season game 2 against the team that beat the Upper Hutt college team earlier on Wednesday. Many Marauder not quite sure what to think of this, because we lost from the school boys last week.
Pre match warm-up: going back and forth to find the right pitch for the game
tennis football took many Marauder`s breath away
Formula for this friendly game: 4 quarters , 25 minutes each
Quarter one: Marauders all over the show. Easy but super fast combinations, splitting the opponent`s defense and super sharp finishing saw the Marauders leading with 0-4. Thanks to two unstoppable headers and two great short distance shots, each the result from a perfect action on the flanks (the two Camerons) delivering nice centers.
Clean defensive work too from Josh, Dave and the flank defenders John and Fred
Goals from Stephen, Mark, Cameron and Adam Frew
Quarter two: the opponents slowly waking up, having at least one shot on goal but a grate save from our new born goalie. Our defense was somehow less organized and the second real attack from the RJ`s resulted in a centre, which Freed was not able to clear. Perfect clean finish from the RJ`s. Score mid game 1-5 thanks to another goal from Adam I believe.
Quarter three: starting to go downhill a bit here, leaving a bit more gaps, a bit less keen in the challenges and recuperating lost balls. A few players getting a bit more concerned about avoiding the uberpresent dog poo than actually focussing on some defensive running, leaving gaps. RJ`s gratefully taking advantage of this finishing with a great shot for the left upper corner. Other high lights were two missers from Mr. WilsonScore at the end of this quarter:1-6 thanks to another goall from Stephen, hence resulting in a hat trick from the young star player
Quarter four: rain started falling but both John and Fred saw a chance to have a little rest from their busy job on the flank defense. They took turns in doing the wing for a solid ten minutes and were extremely pleased with that.
Stephen managed to score another goal, making the end result a very satisfying 1-7.
After the game, the lads went to the Rimutaka Sports bar, but Fred went to empty a quick jug at our much beloved home bar
Marauders FC are ready for the Sunday league! Bring it on!

Mark: one straight misser from half a meter distance
Mr. Wilson: random and constant verbal advertising for his new sponsor called Adam`s Inn, apparently a Washington based B&B. Please explain and maybe just print their name on your shirt. It will save you the breath you actually need to be `in`
