We travelled to Kelham Hall,Newark today to play Southwell Braves in the Nott's Shield not knowing anything about our opponents with them playing in the Newark and district league and travelling without 3 key players due to injuries, sickness and holiday. We kicked off at 2.30pm having to alter the team and from the kick off we set the pace and after 7 mins Jack Rathbone picked up the ball in our half ran and beat there defence down our left made the cross which Simon Percival slotted home 1-0 to us and that's how it stayed up to half time with Southwell and us both having half chances.Second half I replaced Jack Rathbone on left midfield with Oliver Holt and again we set the pace straight away Zac Hooper picking up the ball on the right played it inside to Cory Moody who took a shot which there goalkeeper dropped and again Simon(50 mins) was there to put away 2-0 to us.Now we were in total control of the game and 5 mins later we were 3-0 up again Zac Hooper picking up the ball playing it to Simons feet he turned played a ball in front for Cory Moody to run on to which he put away after that we dominated hitting the bar 3 times. The back four pushed up making it near impossible for Southwell to get through making them take shots from a distance and the midfield tight and organised made it easy for us to break at the other end.I would also like to say that Southwell Braves never gave up and at times they played some fantastic football and not once did there heads drop also the referee Dave Jones he was just awesome both sides on a couple of occasions had a clash of heads the game was immediately stopped so the players could be get treatment he was a great roll model for youth football.Just to summarise Adam in goal was allert and on his toes when was needed the back four awsome, midfield fantastic and both forwards did a fantastic job Well done to man of the match or should i say men of the match Jack Wood(right back) and Chris Fox(left back) Jack was solid, focused and strong and as for Chris my striker to left back a position he never played before was just mind blowing. WELL DONE BOYS WE THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND. ROB WOOD
