We all know that old saying "you wait ages for a bus then 2 come at once" well the same can be said for Warden hat-tricks. Before today nobody had managed to achieve this but if ever it was going to happen then it was at the lob sided mud soaked Bill Shankly Playing Fields against a Glasshouse side that started the game with only 10 men. Liam Geordeson who missed the 2-2 drew in the league here earlier in the season took just 22 minutes to register his hat-trick, strike partner for the day Wes Pitchford set him up for the opener after just 40 seconds and Brian Kerwin playing in a more advanced role crossed for his second which was flicked in past the keeper. The third was all his own work beating two defenders with ease before clipping the ball over the keeper and rolling the ball in the empty net you almost expected him to get on his kness and head it over the line it was that cheeky. A second Glasshouse player was forced to leave the field through injury which meant they were now down to 9 men and at this rate it was looking like we maybe should have just played them in The Bronte gym it would certainly have saved us a journey. Paul Langley prooved his left peg wasn't just for creating goals when he let fly with a rasper on 25 minutes which flew into the top corner from a little under 80 yards after some good build up play from Moore & Dolan and Wes Pitchford managed to avoid the speed bumps to slot home number 5 just before half time when Geordeson played him through. Half time (1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, 5-0)
Despite no changes at the break Gavin Heard didn't leave it too long before withdrawing both Langley & Dolan ensuring they were kept fresh for the big game against FC Nou Camp next Saturday. On came Shaun Kent & Dean Judge who would have counted himself unlucky to loose his place to Pitchford who was guilty of missing several very good chances the type that are dispatched in training regulary by Emmo Brough without the minimum of fuss which I was told to make note for the attention of the manager! James Davies who began the game at right back in the absence of the injured John Marsh moved into midfield and won a great tackle and found Geordeson on the hour mark who took a quick look up before curling and fantastic shot which flew past the keeper who will need a sick note off his doctor on Monday morning for his bad back caused by all the bending down he'd done. To say we should have struck double figures today is an understatement. Rookie Arran Langley replaced Geordeson for only his second appearence of the season and was denied another entry in the Langley family scrapbook when Brian Kerwin went on a run into the box that looked more like an impression of a drunken man staggering home from a night on the lash his effort was fumbled by the keeper the substitute tapped the ball in from 5 yards, the celebration was brilliant but unfortunately Arran missed the offside flag as he had his shirt over his face. It was only going to get worse for the home side as it was all one way traffic and when Judge scored the second hat-trick of the day which was the perfect response for being left out it needed the ref's whistle to put them out of their misery. Judge will have done his claims to reunite his partnership with Geordeson for next week no harm at all, between them they have now scored 22 goals however we'd settle for 1 in 7 days time if it meant revenge over the side that ended our 100% start to the season.
Man of the match: Liam Geordeson a goalscoring masterclass
