Park Tavern 1 Chet Republic 4
Chet started October 2009 in fine style by cruising to victory against a competitive Park Tavern side.
In the fourth minute a defensive mistake gifted Tavern the lead against the run of play.
The initiative was quickly regained by Chet who pressed forward relentlessly; their reward came in the twenty fifth minute when Ryan Tait's incisive through ball was clipped home by Dan Lowndes.
Jason Rowley was unlucky when he broke in from the left leaving two players in his wake before his shot smashed against the post with the defence beaten.
Controversially Chet were denied a half time lead when Ryan Tait finished off an exciting move only to find the linesman had flagged the ball out of play earlier in proceedings.
Craig Black was introduced at half time, Richard Shaw and Adam Bonser joined in shortly afterwards.
In the fifty fifth minute another slick ball from Ryan Tait saw Dan Lowndes score his second from just inside the penalty area.
The lead was extended eleven minutes later when Craig Black beat the offside trap and tapped the ball in.
Tavern were falling apart and Chet confirmed their advantage with a well taken goal in the last minute. Quick passing from midfield set up Craig Black who hammered the ball home from fifteen yards.
This was a good team performance; everyone played their part. The defence was resilient, the midfield strong and our substitutes played astutely. We secured a result against a side that will win more games than they lose.
