2 Games to go and both are must win if LHC want to get promotion. We welcomed Pye Green to Coseley this week. Pye Green Fielded 11 players compared to the 9 that turned up for a previously cancelled match and after last weeks match against Beacon, LHC started with the same line up.
As the match kicked off a gale was blowing over the field but that didn’t stop LHC scoring 8 minutes in when Bob hit a perfectly weighted through ball to Lee running on to the edge of the box. The Pye Green keeper charged of his line but Lee calmly slotted the ball past him to make it 1-0. Less than 5 minutes later LHC were on the attack again. Lee, this time the provider, passed the ball forward to Brainy who rounded the keeper and popped off a shot. The Pye Green keeper did well to get back to his goal but only managed to parry the ball to josh who had his tapped in cleared off the line for a corner. Lee took the corner and found Brainy on the back post who headed home to make it 2-0. Straight from the kick off Pye Green won a free kick just outside the box which was slotted straight past Seb to make it 2-1. LHC continued to press the attack for the remainder of the half but couldn’t find a 3rd goal. 2-1 half time.
The second half continued in the same fashion up to the 70th minute. Sub Callum had come on to the pitch and passed to ball to Bob, who from outside the box curled the ball into the top corner to break into double figures for the season! After this a succession of chances all went slightly wide or hit the frame of the goal and came out. This was until Grovesy pushed forward from Right Back to knock a ball over the top to Brainy. The wind worked in his favour though as the ball flew towards the goal and the bounce off the hard surface beat the keeper. Pye Green could only watch as the ball rolled into the net to make it 4-1. Within 5 minutes the score was 5-1. Webby had come on and used one of his trade mark long throws to put the ball into the Pye Green Box. A defender managed to get a head to it but managed to send the ball the wrong way and straight passed his own goal keeper. In the 80th minute LHC made it 6-1 when top scorer Brainy turned provider and put a cross into the box which Groves headed into the Pye Green goal. Pye Green managed to grab a consolation goal towards the end of the match with a header from a corner. Final Score 6-2.
Another good performance following on from last week’s match. The mood within the squad is much better with more of a family atmosphere both on the pitch and the sidelines. Our season at Coseley is over but we still have a tough match next time out away from home against Rockmount. With the other results in the league not going our way a win is needed to ensure 3rd place and promotion to Division 2! Anything other than a draw will mean we will have to wait for the other results to come in to find out our final place in the league.
