Home league match played on 23 April 2011.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

After a long dip in form we needed a turnaround in fortunes to maintain the promotion push during the last few games. A game against Beacon Church is as good a place as any to start.

Due to injuries and players being absent we lined up with a changed starting 11 giving players a chance to stake claims to new positions. Both sides started brightly, pushing forward straight away but it was LHC who had more of the chances on goal. The deadlock was broken on 17 minutes with Brainy taking a left wing corner, swinging the ball in to meet Carl on the back post who hit the ball towards the back post. It looked like it was going to sneak in but Andy charged forward to tap it in and make sure LHC went up 1-0. The second goal came about 5 minutes later when Bob played a through ball from midfield for Brainy to run on to. Being pushed wide by the defender Brainy still unleashed a shot from a tight angle that went straight past the keeper and into the net. 2-0. LHC’s lead was extended 5 minutes from half time, with Seb punting a ball down field, the ball bounced over the Beacon defence and brainy picked it up. Just as the keeper came off his line to meet Brainy squared the ball to josh who tapped in from 5 yards. 3-0. Beacon had a few chances during the half and looked dangerous off corners and free kicks.

The second half continued in the same fashion and LHC went 4-0 up 5 minutes after the break. Lee played a ball through to brainy who was then brought down in the box by a Beacon defender. Brain scored the resulting penalty. 4-0. Beacon managed to pull one back with a header off a corner 20 minutes form the end. Final score 4-1.

Today LHC were back to their best. With what some may say was a make shift starting 11, everyone put a shift in and has given Steve something to think about when we entertain Pye Green in our final home match next week. Using the old cliché everyone was man of the match today as everyone had a good match but the award is given to Carl as he was the name most mentioned after the match.

Only 2 matches left of our season with next week being the final home match. With promotion still a possibility, both games are must win! As long as we play with the family spirit we showed today, both are win-able matches.  Let’s keep the promotion push alive!
