Match Report
Match day five saw Gringos pitted against the grotesquely named Inter Ya Nan. After slipping to their first defeat of the campaign last time out, Gringos were keen to quickly put that behind them and start another charge for top spot. Last week it was No Legs, No Lee, No Party. With both returning for this game, Gringos were ready to rave.
Jep Guardiola and Co. Kicked off and immediately gave the initiative to Gringos. Wagwaan pressing the opposition's defender in to running into his own box resulting in a Peno. Wagwaan stepped up and slotted it home cool as cucumber. 1-0. Gringos were on top with Legs, Carlos and Charles breaking up any sniff of a chance from Inter and setting Gringos forwards on their merry way. Before long it was 2-0. De Jong set free through the middle of the park, strided forward before lofting a deft through ball into the path of JT, who shown great composure to bring the ball down and arrow a strike into the bottom corner for his first goal of the season. AH was forced into a couple of smart saves which he dealt with in cat like fashion to ensure Gringos went into the break with their Clean Sheet intact.
Gringos Kicked off the second half bouyed by their first half showing. A cool breeze whispered through the air "Ter Win is Coming". Carlos and JT with some tidy build up play worked their way up the pitch before laying it off to Leebo who Squared for Wagwaan to cap off a great team goal with a neat first touch finish. At 3-0 it seemed the game was put to bed but just like at the retirement home, Ya Nan came out fighting. Inter finally broke the Gringo resistance and pulled themselves back into the game. Ya Nan was steaming and went looking for another, The Inter striker running onto a long ball over the top, VAR showing a tug on Legs to gain an advantage, was free to run onto the ball for a one on one Chance. Huntega said "Not on my fucking watch". No longer confined by his prison some call a box, William Wallace charged out at the Inter player screaming "Freedom!". Taking the ball was redundant for the fact he broke the zone restrictions of his Asbo, the second Peno of the game was awarded. Ya Nans striker stood hand on hips waiting for the whistle, Huntega standing his ground not ready to entertain any mind games. For some unknown reason the Inter striker decided to go hard and high down the middle, with Huntega holding firm and saving it with has head. Unbelievable Jeff. A moment of Gringo history that will go down in folklore for years to come.
That was a big turning point in the game and gave the Gringos the kick up their backside that was needed. JT with so more great work down there left flank played it Infield to Wagwaan, who jinked and hustled his way through Ya Nan before applying the finish for his hatty and give Gringos some breathing room. With the subs rolling like a tar head on Sesh, Gringos became a bit less fluent and compact and the Inter player worked his way to goal before slipping the ball past Gringos #1 to set up an enticing finale. Gringos had the grit and determination to see the game out and see themselves get the all Important win. Another game where Gringos had to dig deep, but these boys would dig to China and back if that's what it takes. Final score 4-2.
