A game where Flint seemed stunned for the first 20 minutes of the game. The Mold players were certainly up for the game, and when they went one ahead in the 17th minute, it was a much needed shock to the system. Mold continued to put pressure on until we realised we needed to play football as a team, by passing the ball about and taking chances.
Eventually, in the 37th minute, the equaliser came with a well-taken goal. Flint began to find their form with another goal in the 43rd minute. Wingers began to put some excellent crosses into the box, putting pressure on Mold. The Mold keeper made some excellent saves and defenders cleared, what looked like certain goals, off the line.
11 a-side football is still a learning curve. Pass and move, pass and move, don’t try taking on the team. Simple football, let the ball do the work.
William, credit to you, you had an excellent game. Thank you for volunteering to play for the opposition and well done on scoring their goal. It’s a pity the rest of the Flint team did not have the determination and attitude towards the game. Let’s hope your example rubs off.
The game ended 4 – 1 to Flint. The result was excellent but the game itself, in terms of teamwork, was disappointing and not the Flint team we all enjoy watching.
Heads up, let’s move on and learn from the negatives and bring the positives on.
