Home league match played on 09 January 2014.

The boys in the stripes knew what they had to do against league leaders Your Mums Athletic. It was a game which saw the Boners have to put in one of their biggest shifts yet in order to achieve the desired result.

In a game which resembled the classic rivalry of FCBBH vs. Old Skool, the Boners were reinvigorated with the return of Captain Inferno Josh Sloane and their star playmaker Dave Waterworth.

The game started off with high intensity and passion and didn’t take longs for things to get heated. The ugly, bucked tooth YMA defender once again tried to get rile up clinical striker Darbinho within the first minute. However, after advising he would give the defenders dentist a day off and sort his teeth out, the striker was rarely bothered by the defender again.

Shortly afterwards FCBBH made the decisive breakthrough as a classic link up play from Dave and Darbinho resulted in a cool finish from the striker, 1-0.

The Boners rarely looked in trouble with an outstanding battling display from holding midfielders Sloane and Green who were forming a formidable partnership and understanding, which lead the Gaffer to offer Greeny a permanent contract.

It wasn’t too long before FCBBH they doubled their lead; Pedro Clemons who was having a warriors performance found his strike partner Darbinho, whose outside of the foot snapshot clipped the inside of the post and in, 2-0 to the Boners.

The game slowed slightly and YMA began to exert a bit more pressure on the ever strong FCBBH defence. However, any attack was easily broken down by newly voted Ballon d’Or winner Simon Epps. Likewise, any shot on goal was as easily saved by Peter Bogdan who was having the type performance that won him Managers Player, and Players Player in successive seasons for the Boners.

It was only a matter of time before a third FCBBH goal and it came in what can only be described as true Barcelona fashion and one of the best pieces of football the boners have played. Slick one touch passing between Dave, Darbinho and Greeny tore through the YMA team and resulted in an excellent finish from Dave. From start to finish there were no more than 5 touches, the goal was even recognised and congratulated by the ever despondent YMA team.

The humiliation must have been too much for YMA as they managed to rally a surge forward which caught the Boners unaware and the strong defence was broken at last as YMA clawed a goal back, 3-1.

Shortly after the goal, in typical fashion Darbinho was dubiously sent off for a slide tackle with around 7 minutes to go, giving the chance of YMA to exert some dominance with the extra man. It has to be noted, a similar slide a few minutes earlier uted by Pedro Clemons went unpunished. GET OFF MY PITCH!!

A man down, the FCBBH players must be commended for their efforts in keeping the scores as they were. The Gaffer even injuring himself after clattering into keeper Bogdan in an excellent last ditched attempt not to concede another goal, which would have surely spurred YMA on for more. Ryan would like to point out there was a call.. Sloane would like to point out how late?!

In the final minutes, Keeper Bogdan found Darbinho with a long ball forward, the clinical striker pulled of an exquisite (and intentional) back heel turn which left the YMA defender for dead. The striker found his strike partner and Managers Player of The Season Pedro Clemons wide open in the box. Pedro was left with the easy job of slotting the ball into the empty net, increasing his ever impressive goal tally, 4-1 to the Boners.

Another win for the Boners means if they can win their last game against Real Sosobad on Thursday by a margin of 4 or more (their previous encounter FCBBH enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Sosobad) and YMA draw or defeat Icon in top of the table clash, the Boners will be promoted back into the Premiership. Up the Boners
