Dynamo travelled to Westside yesterday in, yet another, crucial game in the title run-in. The game was played in terrible conditions with a force 10 gale blowing down the pitch.
Dynamo started the game very fast and took the lead after 90 seconds. A high ball caused the defence all types of trouble and Alan Parker nodded the ball square for Martyn Murray to tap home. We were then treated to a rare occurance when the Westside keeper kicked the ball out, he put it a bit too high and the wind started to blow it back to him and he caught the ball on his line. A free-kick should have been awarded but the ref decided to be lenient on the big keeper.
A second goal followed in 9 minutes. Keano won the ball with an excellent tackle before feeding Murray. He slipped Parker away on the left and the now in-form striker rounded the keeper before slotting home from an angle.
Westside, playing against the wind, tried to cause problems and were helped by Nathan Moncrieff! The big defender seemed to have brought the wrong boots with him.
More chances were created with both Parker and Keco shooting over from distance. Dynamo continued to play good football and were rewarded in the 39th minute. Keco layed the ball wide for Martyn Murray. Murray challenged with the defender and the ball rolled back towards Keco. He drove in to the box and smashed the ball home from 15 yards.
Half-time 3-0 Dynamo.
Dynamo started the 2nd half even better than the 1st. Robbie Graham burst up the right and his cross was knocked into the net by Martyn Murray, the striker claiming the final touch on the ball after a challenge from the defender. This was after only 30 seconds!
Despite playing into the wind Dynamo continued to create chances and left back Andy McGowan was in outstanding form, driving up the left wing and consistently beating opponents all over the park.
Westside got back in the game after 65 minutes. A long ball over the top had Robbie Graham trying to shepherd it back to keeper Cossetini but the striker managed to nick the ball into the back of the net. Dynamo were then denied a stonewall penalty when Keco was tripped in the box and Keano smashed the loose ball off the bar.
Westside made it 4-2 after 75 minutes. A corner was knocked down for an unmarked player to tap home. Nobody seemed able to identify who lost their man but I have my suspicisions.
Dynamo then stepped up a gear and penned Westside in their own box and created at least 10 good chances in a 5 minute spell. Great work on the right by Alan Parker allowed him to hit the by-line, he cut the ball back for Ian Short to tap home. The scoring was rounded off in the 83 minute. Short surprised many with a burst of pace down the left, he hit the by-line and cut the ball back for Craig Dilworth, who managed to fresh air it from 3 yards. Alan Parker got a hold of the ball and again got to the line, his cross was powered home by Keco.
Ian Short then decided to show a masterclass in poor 1st touches for the remaining minutes of the game.
A good win for Dynamo and 1 game closer to the title.
