Home league match played on 20 September 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The game started off at fast pace and as with the first couple of weeks Chaseside dominated the first 20 minutes of the game. DH Britannia were outplayed by some quick one touch football which led to a couple of openings of which the best chance fell to Matt Hicks who hit a 25 yard screamer which just missed the angle of the goal.

After this the game started to open out and after some slack marking the ball fell to DH Britannia on the edge of the box and a somewhat miss hit shot found the corner of the net. This gave them the lift they needed and started to attack mainly down the right wing, after a quick passing move the ball was free in the box and as Adam went to clear the ball one of their strikers nipped in and was taken clean out for a spot! (That’s 3 pens in 3 weeks!). This was coolly converted into the corner and the game filtered out until about 5 minutes before half time where Chaseside pushed for a goal and after some great work down the left, Paul Kanolik was unlucky to see his shot just fly past the post.

After a quick team talk the match was back underway and Chaseside were back in the game a couple of minutes after the break. After a corner was headed off the line from a Steve Dunford header (shoulder!) the ball fell to Matt Hicks on the edge of the area who sent a cracking drive which took a deflection on the way through wrong footing the keeper and into the net. The joy of getting back into the game was short lived however and only a few minutes later DH Britannia regained their two goal advantage after some nice work down the right led to a short cross into an unmarked midfielder who slotted the ball past the helpless Stuart.

Chaseside' heads went down after this and despite creating some very good chances, we could not seem to finish and DH Britannia sensed we were getting frustrated and took advantage of this. A long ball over the top and a misunderstanding between Steve and Stuart led to the forth goal and only a few minutes later another ball over the top to the striker (who was miles offside!) needed two chances to score past the unlucky Stuart who saved the first shot brilliantly. With only a couple of minutes to go there were gaps opening up all over the pitch and Chaseside' inability to win the first or second ball led to the sixth goal which did take a deflection and loop into the net.

All in all minus the final 10 minutes Chaseside played some nice football and could have been 4-0 up in the first 20 minutes. Once a couple of goals go in we should get the confidence to go on and kill the game off before the opposition even get going. Expect better things from the game with Townsend next week.
