It made a nice change having the sun out before kicking off our quarter final against St Nicholas,Straight from the whistle we got the ball down and starting creating chances,The ref set his stool out early on aswell,being an absolute bellend how made some very strange decisions for both sides!After their keeper had pulled off at least 2 quality saves and they had 1 or 2 half chances,in the 33rd minute the deadlock was finally broken,Macca and Rob linking up well down the right and Macca's cross/shot went towards the back post where Ross had the easy task of running in to tap in,1-0!
Both teams kept creating even more half chances but right on half time,The ball flicked off Roundy's head from a superb cross from Jack and this time is was Scott who followed up to tap in,2-0!
The second half started and unlike the 1st half,We looked like a totally different team,letting the ball bounce on the box,sloppy passing and not picking up our men!And in the 50th minute we were made to pay,a corner from the right wasn't dealt with and they tapped in for 2-1,We improved slightly after that goal but in the 61st,yet again we never dealt with a long throw and like their 1st goal they tapped in for 2-2!
That equaliser finally woke us up again,We started passing the ball about again and with St Nicks defence starting to look tired that couldn't handle our pace in the final 3rd!To be fair we battered them after they equalised,chance after chance went begging and their keeper continued to pull off some quality saves(keepers always play well against us-wankers) but you could sense a goal was coming and 7 minutes from time,after a good old fashioned scramble,the ball ended up at the feet of Roundy who scored to make it 3-2 and the game looked won,It was wrapped up 2 minutes later when Stuarts long punt up field bounced over the full backs head and Ross ran on from our own half and managed to just get there before the keeper to toe poke in for 4-2!
With a minute to go,the game all but won and a semi-final place secured,
The bollocks that followed really pissed on my parade and spoilt the morning for me,Not for the 1st time this season we embarrassed ourselves by shouting,pushing and arguing with each over and the final whistle went and it was as if we'd lost the poxy game,
Overall,yet again another quality display,everyone running their nuts off,the full backs bombing up and down the wings and midfield covering alot of ground(as did the top 3)and the back 4 looking solid(apart from letting the ball bounce!!!) and Stuart looked safe as houses in goal!Man of the match goes to Jack,as yet again a number of players could've got it but after just missing out last week deserved it,If we can take out the bollocks that happened at the end of the game and maybe switch on a bit better at the start of the 2nd half there is no reason why we can't win this cup again and finish 2nd in the league,With the Semi Final against Harefield CC next sunday and then 2 double headers against teams aiming for 2 place aswell,it all depends what CFB turn up!only time will tell.....................
