With a place in the final of the Kane cup up for grabs,There should've been a slight buzz in the air before we kicked off,But not for the first time this season,Some players just didn't look up for it,Things weren't helped when Steve got injured after about 5 minutes so Glenn had to go back into centre back but we never really got going,the passing was sloppy and we were 2nd to every ball!In the 17th minute a corner from the right was missed by everyone and they were 1-0 up!Both teams created a few chances after that goal,They cleared 1 off the line after a good run from Ross but we never really troubled their keeper!
4 minutes before half time we were level,Roundy was brought down in the box but somehow no penalty was given,and while everyone(includung 4 of their gobby defenders)was screaming at the linesman Rob Mair hit a screamer into the back of the net from about 30 yards out and it was 1-1!
We had to up the tempo in the second half and try and get at the back 4 but things weren't helped again when Mike had to leave meaning Scott had to play at centre back and as expected we lost the shape of the team with players playing all over the place!I don't know what he had to drink at half time but it then seamed like the ref flicked a switch and became 1 of the worst referee's I've seen at this level,Giving some strange decisions to both teams but more so listening to the gobby Harefield players and we got nothing!DC,Who had come on for Mike forced their keeper into a great save with a quality strike from about 25 yards out!In the 68th minute they took the lead again when the Striker ran through the middle and slotted it past Stuart for 2-1!
We tried to get back into the game,With the keeper making a couple of saves but in the 79th minute Captain C**t(the ref) used the force to see through about 5 players and gave Harefield a throw-in even though it had come off their player,overalling the linesman who rightly gave the throw to us,And to kick us in the nuts even more,they went straight up the other end and crossed it in and they headed in for 3-1!!
Heads were down and I think we got only got 1 free kick after that,even getting corners given against us when it was clearly a goal kick and in the last minute,After a strong challenge from Jack in the box a penalty was awarded and it was 4-1!
Overall,however much of a useless twat the referee was,we can't use him as an excuse,having 2 midfielders at centre back didn't help but certain players had an off day and Harefield were worthy winners,The positives we can take(hopefully)is that we know we can play better,we've got a big 6 games coming up,2 of them being double headers against our challengers for 2 place!Bring on next week
