Another cup game for the Corries this Sunday in the Worcester Nursing Junior cup. In the last round of the cup we faced Clifton rovers where we were held to a 1-1 stalemate after 90 minutes Corries came through on penalties in the end ! Corries moving on strong through the cups we weren’t about to let Express Falcons ruin that ! A team who were newly promoted last season to division 1 Worcester district.
The gaffa was absent this Sunday which gave Chris Price & Tom Restall a chance to take over and make themselves heard !
Changes from last weeks line up saw the return of Alex beck and Tom mason up top as a partnership due to the absence of our club captain Dean Palmer. Brad Williamson dropping from behind the striker to centre mid. Jordan Hartley in on the left wing and also the return of the exciting Ryan Molseworth on the right hand side. No Robbie Johnson or Luke bench this week due to other commitments and injury which saw Jack Berry drop into centre half with the captains arm band.
Bromsgrove started off very comfortable in the game showing quality in possession in the early stages. Corries creating chance after chance in the first half an hour Alex beck and Tom mason missing a hand full of chances created by some great football in the final third.
As the game went on you almost saw corries put their hands in their pockets with the sense of a straight forward 90 minutes! This allowed Falcons to get into the game. Something to think about there boys !
Falcons created a few chances which Matty Talbot in the sticks delt with pretty comfortably.
Corries first goal came from Ryan molesworth with and exiting run Past his man to then cut in and finish beautifully putting the ball away at the far post.
As the half went on falcons came back into the game, corries found it difficult to keep hold of the ball for a small stint as a result of falcons persistence and hard work. Tom Restal was then forced to make a tactical change putting brad williamson back up top with Alex beck moving out onto the right hand side which brought Ryan molesworth into centre mid to get more of the ball ! Which turned out to be a great move giving corries a lot more options.
Moving on Falcons were then awarded a penalty due to a tackle from behind in the box ! Penalty was put away confidently!
1-1 Half Time
Tom Restal with some constructive criticism to the boys reminding them of the quality we have in the team encouraging to get back on to the ball and play for eachother.
As the second half got underway you could see corries we’re hungry for the win getting back on the ball creating bags of chances and showing off in the final 3rd Alex beck Tom Mason Brad Williamson and Jordan Hartley really mixed it up well Sunday ! Leaving falcons spinning on the spot at times.
As the half went on Corries got their second goal from some life or death defending from Express Falcons resulting in the ball pin balling in the box coming off skipper jack berry in the end to make it 2-1. Still don’t think berry knows much about it but I’m sure he’ll take the goal on the chin anyway great finish lad haha
Express Falcons next goal came from a free header in the box from a corner Matty really unlucky not to get a hand to it but just knicked past him from a close range header. Got to be more switched on for set pieces boys ! Been addressed the last few weeks by sam so let’s all keep focused on our jobs when called upon.
2-2 was the score moving into the final half an hour of the match Restal made use of the roll on roll off subs Tom mason coming off for Chris Chapman who was foaming at the mouth for the winner.
Some great play and more chances created by corries the winner seemed inevitable.
Another change was made Martin Byfield for Cam Lewis who really is a solid young player. again not putting a foot wrong. Well done mate ????
Corries winning goal was down to this magic they keep hearing about in the changing rooms. Chris Chapman chesting the ball down beautifully 35 yards out from goal the lad teed it up perfect for a right footed bullet straight past the keeper who was left scratching his head while the corries lads got together to celebrate their winner ! Rumour has it the goals knocked Robbie Johnson’s free kick last week against kings Heath off the top ! Sure all will be debated.
Corries worked hard as a unit to see out the game. Express Falcons did really well to get beyond the back four to test Matty Talbot between the sticks again pulling off some brilliant saves ! Great performance tubs ????
Full time 3-2
Still a few things to work out defensively for the corries lads but all in all a great team win ! This team is improving every week and it’s great to see ! Let’s go on to next week and show Bartley green Owls just how much !
??Man of the match?? Tom Mason
