LION END SEASON ON A LOW
After the exciting times and exertions of Friday night's penalty shoot out win it would be difficult for Lion to raise their game again. And so it proved. Against the League leaders quick running and resolue defending Lion just had no answer. They started brightly enough and in the opening stages had a couple of chances to score. However after 10 minutes a well worked team move gave the Barns striker the opportunity to open the scoring. Five minutes later a similar goal scored was hotly disputed after the ball had seemingly gone over the goal line and out of the net at the back. However the goal was allowed to stand. Lion were still defending manfully when a lovely team move involving a quick left to right switch led to the third goal on the half hour.
The second half was more even and Lion did well to create scoring chances . But it was never going to be ad Barns were allowed two more soft goals in the last quarter for them to record a seemingly easy win.
A disappointing end to the season but only to be to be expected given their heavy schdeule. Two games against the long time League leaders plus one against the eventual champions and two cup finals in the last month took its toll.
