LION BLASTED BY BLOWERS
A match where Lion were forced to play a non-goalie in goal and players in unaccustomed positions due to that well known malaise for Sunday morning players of their inability to rise from their beds.
Lion began brightly and were the better side for the opening period. Indeed they should have taken the lead after 20 minutes when a cross from Matty H left DJ with the simple task of slotting the ball past the Blowers goalie. Unfortunately he just chipped it in to the goalies hands and the chance was gone. Blowers opened the scoring shortly afterwards withh a low shot from the left. Almost immediately JR equalised with a fine header from a corner by Billy on the left. Lion continued to impress and after 40 minutes Pal Dutton volleyed over after receiving a fine pass from Sam Cowlishaw on the left. With 43 minutes gone Blowers midfielder unleashed a dipping shot from 30 yards which beat Pitchy in the Lion goal.
In the second half Lion's play began to deteriorate and following a goalmouth scramble the ball was forced over the line for Blower's third goal after 48 minutes. Blowers had much of the play from that point and with 10 minutes left a dreadful error by a Lion midfielder led to a Blowers player running thirty yards to score their fourth goal. With 5 minutes left Paul Dutton scored with a volley from a Matty H pass to reduce the arrears but there was still time for Blowers to score their fifth after 87 minutes.
All in all a terrible second half display by Lion and they must ensure that ALL players meet at the appointed time before setting off for future games.
