Away cup match played on 23 September 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Sunday football felt like it was back with a bang. No more glorious sunshine and searing temperatures. This was the stuff that stops hose pipe bans.

None the less there was going to be no stopping a buoyant Forest performance. After tasting winning ways the lads knew only a win in 90 min’s would do to avoid extra time and an extra soaking.

The game started in the same fashion of late with Forest conceding relatively early on to a goal that was probably the only memorable attack from Inter in the first half.

Inter 1-0 Forest

Finally Forest settled and seemed to grow in confidence. It didn’t take long for them to be back level. Some smart movement and passing found Parson's just inside the area to turned and fire into the bottom corner. A smart move a smart finish and Forest were level.

Inter 1-1 Forest

This game was never going to be the most fluent of affairs with the rain causing problems and no team really being able to play flowing football. The game was going to be about who wanted it more and with frustration growing amongst the Forest players you could tell they were up for it.

Both teams seemed satisfied enough to go in to the break at one a piece to re-group.

H.T.   Inter 1 - 1 Forest

The second half got underway and an improvement in performance was clear from Forest. It took 10 min’s before they were able to snatch the lead. Some neat football and a low drilled cross turned in for what would have been a classy finish had it come from any of Forests players. Unfortunately for Inter it was their own down fall and own defender who tucked it away so sweetly.

Inter 1 - 2 Forest

This game was now all about Forest. Dominant in possession, dominant in passion, and dominant in effort. This game was there for the taking and a solid spell of pressure resulted in Inter being punished further.

Firstly a quickfire double chance with the Inter cross bar taking a beating. Mass striking a thunderbolt from distance rattling the bar and the follow up header from S.Kent rebounding away to safety off the same spot.

Then some great build up play finally finding Gary Lee free in space to fire home. Capping a solid performance and meriting him with a well deserved and hard working M.O.M performance.

Inter 1 - 3 Forest

Forest surely had this game sewn up.

It should have been 4 or if not 5 had a couple of decent efforts been stuck in to the back of the net. Forest had shown they were superior in terms of fighting spirit and ability. The game should and could have been killed off.

Time ran down and 15 min’s remained. Inter finally found a position in which they could threaten the Forest goal. A deep cross finding an unmarked man mountain of a midfielder at the far post to nod home. This was game on.

Inter 2 - 3 Forest

A few over elaborate challenges and a few spells of pressure from both teams ended with little other drama. This game was fizzling out and the rain was gathering momentum. Finally the whistle blew and what can only be described as a comfortable performance ended with the right result. Forest were through and Inter from the division above were dumped out of the competition.
