Bracknell Forest showed a much better organised performance on Sunday against a well prepared Wokingham side. Although this was only Forest’s second game of the season it was game they couldn’t really afford to lose.
Both sides started reasonably well, trying to knock the ball about on a bobbly Morgan Rec. It wasn’t long though until the first goal was scored, a free kick for Wokingham mid-way in the Forest half which was driven in, missed everybody and somehow found the back of the net??
Forest 0-1 Wokingham
Everyone looked at each other and they weren’t sure who to blame. However, Forest remained positive creating a number of chances; Gary Lee managed to get on the end of a through ball, which nutmegged the keeper but didn’t quite have enough pace to find the back of net. Mid-way through the first half Thain knocked a ball into Massingham’s feet who in turn beat 3 players and rifled the ball straight into the top corner, fantastic strike which will take a lot of beating for Goal of the Season.
Forest 1-1Wokingham
Half time soon approached and although Forest were level they would probably have felt that they should have been leading. Craig Masey was forced off due to injury and Craig Parsons was on. The Half Time talk was all positive and if Forest could continue with their first half performance there was only one team coming off with a result.
Second half started brightly for Forest and they were constantly attacking the Wokingham goal without any reward, Wokingham reverted to long ball without any success as the centre halves for Forest were like a brick wall and nothing was getting through. Forest were rewarded with a free kick, just outside the Wokingham box which Sayers claimed he was taking, unfortunately the ball was thrown and landed in the hands of Kevin Lee. Lee step up, direct free kick. With tremendous tekkers and power the ball hit the back of the net.
Forest 2-1Wokingham
Forest continued to press with some great runs from Richard Massingham and Stuart Kent and were finally rewarded again. A great individual dribble from Stuart Kent and he was brought down in the box. Penalty, we all thought it was a little soft but I guess it made up for last week’s blunder against the Prince. Kent stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way.
Forest 3-1 Wokingham
A number of other chances were created and Forest were finally looking like the team they were expected to be, Kevin Lee had one of the line from a Craig Sayers corner and finally Forest made another chance count. Kevin Lee whipped in the corner which was finally bundle over the line by Craig Sayers from a yard out.
Forest 4-1 Wokingham
The final whistle was shortly blown and Forest walked off with all 3 points – Fantastic Result
Solid performance by Daniel Kent who was awarded with MOM
