In a spirited encounter at the Fords Sports & Social Ground on 15 December 2024, Bowers & Pitsea U14 Whites faced off against Corinthians Youth U14 Blue in a league match that ended with a scoreline of 1-3 in favour of the visitors. The match kicked off at 10:00 am, with a modest crowd of 50 spectators witnessing the action unfold.
Bowers & Pitsea adopted a 3-4-3 formation, aiming to utilise width and pressing to unsettle their opponents. Rhys Hughes took his place in goal, while a back three comprised Freddy Partner on the right, Marcus Stanbury in the centre, and Sebastian Cenciu on the left. The midfield was anchored by Cory Jennings and Jack McCullim centrally, with Benjamine Smith on the right and Luca Cepoi on the left, providing support to the attacking trio of Mattie Bristow on the right, Marvellous Nbubueze as the central striker, and Lewis Baber on the left. The substitutes for the match included Oliver Wakeling and James Holgate.
The match began with Corinthians Youth applying early pressure, and it was not long before they capitalised on a defensive error from Bowers & Pitsea. In the 28th minute, Bowers & Pitsea were forced into a substitution as Cory Jennings had to leave the pitch due to injury, making way for Oliver Wakeling. The team’s frustrations began to show, and just two minutes later, a yellow card was issued for dissent, highlighting the mounting pressure on the away side.
Despite the setbacks, Bowers & Pitsea found a glimmer of hope in the 34th minute. Jack McCullim unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box, which sailed past the Corinthians goalkeeper, bringing the score to 1-2 and reigniting the home crowd's enthusiasm.
