The Falcons welcomed Sutton Coldfield Town Juniors to North Birmingham Academy for a friendly in extremely hot conditions and against a team we had played in the league last season but had struggled to breakdown and had made it hard for the Falcons it was hoped that with the new blood in the team that this would be a good test for the team.
With Sutton winning the toss and deciding to play uphill in the first half, the Falcons started with great pace and precision moving the Sutton defence around and driving at their midfield and after only 2 minutes the Falcons managed to win the ball in midfield and Jacob slipped a ball through to Sam to beat the Sutton Keeper and make the score 1-0, and again after 4 minutes a long pass from Kyle eluded the Sutton defenders and Christopher pounced to beat the keeper and make it 2-0. At this time the Falcons were relentless with Tom anchoring the midfield it was allowing Jamie, Jacob & Joe to drive the Falcons forward but after 6 minutes Tom managed to power his way into the area and played a reverse pass to Sam to tap in and make it 3-0.
The Falcons were still powering on and after 10 minutes again the midfield won the ball and Jamie played a long ball over the top for Christopher to race onto and beat the keeper to make it 4-0, and after 16 minutes Christopher raced onto a pass to crash the ball against the post but after 22 minutes Jamie played the ball out wide on the left wing to Christopher to cut inside the fullback and from 20 yards curl the ball into the far corner to make it 5-0. Then after 23 minutes the Sutton keeper made a good save from a Christopher 25 yard shot, and again after 26 minutes the Falcons broke down the left wing with good interplay by Christopher, Jacob and Ross, releasing Ross who overlapped and played a good ball into Jacob to fire home and make it 6-0. The Falcons were now relentless in going forward and after 27 minutes the Sutton keeper made a great save low near his post from a Sam header, then after 30 minutes Sam chased a ball down the right channel and played an excellent ball into the six yard area for Christopher to tap in and make it 7-0. After 32 minutes the Falcons won a corner on the left wing and Jamie swung in a good ball that was half cleared to Jacob who rifled a shot into the far corner to make it 8-0 and with time running out in the half again the ball was moved forward to Christopher who lined up a shot but as the defenders reacted to him he slipped the ball through to Sam to fire home and make the half time score 9-0.
At the half Coach Jamie made several changes with Christopher, Sam, Luke Mac, Jacob & Connall being replaced by Benji, Jack, Tyler, Luke W & Archie and Ross was to again deputise for Luke Mac in the Falcons goal. With the Falcons playing uphill the second half would be much harder in the intense heat and the Falcons started as they had finished the first half pressing the midfield and making the Sutton team give the ball away cheaply but it was always looking that the Falcons could increase their lead and with Tyler working well on the right wing and delivering in some good balls but after 49 minutes again the Sutton keeper made a good save from a Jacks shot. Then after 62 minutes Connal surged through the Sutton midfield and saw his shot crash back off the post and again after 65 minutes Jack shot was again well saved by the Sutton keeper but in the last minute of the half again Connall, Jacob and Archie moved the ball well down the left wing with Jacob slipping the ball to Connall who drove at the Sutton defence before unleashing an unstoppable shot to make the final score 10-0.
