FARRELL REMAINED IN THE STICKS WITH HIS NEW LOOK ORANGE PETER CECH TOP ON. SPOORS CAME BACK INTO RIGHT BACK AS HE WAS MISSING LAST WEEK FOR WORK, DOUGLAS AND MCDONOUGH KEPT THEIR CENTRE HALF PARTNERSHIP AND BURNS CAME IN FOR MCDONALD AT LEFT BACK. A NEW LOOK CENTRE MIDFIELDERS WITH THE JOHNSONS COMBINING FOR THE FIRST TIME AS KEVIN JOHNSON MADE HIS FULL DEBUT. STODDS CAME IN FOR MISSING YOUNG ON THE RIGHT AND TABOUN KEPT HIS USUAL PLACE ON THE LEFT . VAUDREY GAVE BENNETT A MORE ADVANCED ROLL JUST BEHIND LONE STRIKER STOTT WHO CAME BACK FROM INJURY.
THIS FIXTURE WAS THE BEST TURN OUT OF THE SEASON WITH A FULL SQUAD BAR BURGIN AND STEVENS. THIS GAME LOOKED TO BE OFF WITH THE TEAM CHANGING ROOMS BANTER LOOKING VERY NEGATIVE AS WE SEEN THAT THE OVER 40S GAME WAS OFF ON THE TOP PITCH. THE LADS GOT THE TEXT FROM PAUL TO SAY THE GAME WAS ON AS THE BLUESTONE GOT RIGHT UP FOR THIS FIXTURE. AS PAUL AND STEVE NAMED THE TEAM THERE WAS A FEW SHOCK CHANGES BUT THIS COULD ONLY BE GOOD FOR THE SQUAD WHICH BRINGS COMPETITION INTO PLAY AND KEEPS TEAM PLAYERS ON THEIR TOES AND MUST START PERFORMING . SO AS WE WENT TO KICK OFF ON THE LEFT SIDE BOTTOM PITCH FOR A CHANGE THE PITCH LOOKED ROCK HARD BUT REFEREE DAVE ALLEN DIDNT FLICKER AND WANTED THIS GAME ON. LOOKING OVER TO OUR SIDELINE WE WILL NEVER GET A BETTER ONE ALL SEASON WITH ABOUT 20 ODD PEOPLE ON THE SIDE AN AWSOME TURN OUT. BLUESTONE KICKED OFF AND EARLY ON LADS SLIPPING ALL OVER CAME BANTER OF THE DAY AS 2 MINUTES IN MARK JOHNSON SHOUTS "COME ON BLUESTONE GET UP FOR THIS" THEN WENT OVER ON HIS ANKLE ,EARLY SUB GRAINGER CAME ON. IT WAS VERY SCRAPY WITH BOTH TEAM FINDING IT HARD TO STRING A PASS TOGETHER , BLUESTONE WERE PLAYING QUITE DEEP IN THE FIRST HALF WITH US PLAYING THE LONE STRIKER BUT THEN STARTED TO PRESS THE GATESHEAD TEAM. 10 MINUTES INTO THE GAME THE GATESHEAD DEFENCE TRYED TO CLEAR AS GRAINGER HEADED THE BAL INTO THE PATH OF TABOUN TO VOLLY WITH A GREAT SAVE FROM THE LITTLE GATEHEAD KEEPER . A FEW MINUTES LATER GRAINGER AND TABOUN COMBINED AGAIN AS AS A NICE BALL THREW TO TABOUN AS HE WAS CHOPPED DOWN FOR A PENALTY NO COMPLAINTS FROM THEIR DEFENDERS. DOUGLAS CONVERTED THE PENALTY SENDING THE KEEPER THE WRONG WAY AS HE PASSED GTHE BALL BOTTOM RIGHT AND HAS NOW SCORED 4 PENALTIES THIS SEASON. KEVIN JOHNSONS LONG THROWS WERE CAUSING PROBLEMS AS THEY CAME BOMBING INTO THE BOX BUT THEIR KEEPER KEPT PUNCHING THEM AWAY AND WAS KEEPING THEM IN THE GAME AND A FEW GOT HEADED OUT FOR CORNERS. A BIT HAVOCK KICKED OFF WHEN MCDONOUGH AND THEIR SKIPPER STARTED SCRAPPING WHEN THEIR LAD THREW A PUNCH AND KARL NUTTED HIM BACK AND WERE LUCKY NOT TO BE SENT OFF . FROM A JOHNSON THROW IS WHERE THE BLUES GOT COURT OUT WHE BLUE SHIRTS PILED IN THE BOX FOR A SET PIECE AS KEVIN TRYED TO THROW INTO FEET AS GATEHEAD BROKE IN NUMBERS AS THIER MIDFILED WENT PAST GRAINGER AND GOT AWAY FROM MCDONOUGH AS HE LOOKED TO OF STRUCK THE BALL WIDE AS IT CAME OFF MCDONOUGH TO SCORE AN OWN GOAL WHO WAS UNLUCKY. 1-1 AT HALF TIME THE GROUND STARTED TO SOFTEN UP TEAM TALK WAS ALL GOOD WITH US KNOWING ITS OURS FOR THE TAKING AS WE WENT TO 2 UPTOPS AND TRYED GETTING TABOUN IN THE GAME MORE . DEBUTENT WAS UNLUCKY AS HE WAS HACKED DOWN EARLY ON THEN DONE HIS SHOULDER IN TRYING ALONG THROW AS IT DELAYED THE GAME FOR 5 MINUTES ,JOHNSON WENT OFF AS GATESHEAD THORT TO GET A BREATHER OFF THE LONG THROW BUT PAUL HOWE CAME ON AND WAS SLINGING THE BALL IN FROM THE OTHER SIDE WHICH GATESHEAD COULDN'T HANDLE. BLUESTONE TOOK THE LEAD AS THE LONG THROW CAME IN AND THE BALL GOT HEADED OUT TO GRAINGER EDGE OF BOX AS HE PLAYED THE BALL TO DOUGLAS AS HE TURNED THE GATEHEAD TEAM INSIDE OUT LIKE A WOOLY JUMPER AS HE GOT HACKED DOWN . DOUGLAS TOOK THE FREEKICK AND BENT IT LOW RIGHT PAST THE ONLOOKING WALL AND KEEPER NO CHANCE 2-1. WE KNEW WE NEEDED ANOTHER GOAL TO KILL THE GAME OFF , GATESHEAD COULDN'T HANDLE THE HOLD UP PLAY OF STOTT WHICH STOOD OUT FOR ME MOST OF THE GAME WHICH I THORT HAD BEEN MISSING ALL SEASON AND HAS PLAYED A NUMBER OF POSITONS WILL THIS BE HIS PREFERED POSITION NOW? STOTT WENT AND GOT THE GOAL HE WELL DESERVED WHEN SPOORS CALMLY PLAYED THE BALL INTO GRAINGER AS HE KNOCKED THE BALL DOWN LINE TO TRY TAKE ON THE LEFT BACK AND PRESSED THE DEFENDER AS HE PANICED AND TRYED PASSING BACK TO THE KEEPER AS STRIKER STOTT READ IT LIKE A BOOK TO PINCH THE BALL AND ROUND THE KEEPER TO TAP HOME 3-1 . DOUGLAS 15 FROM TIME COULD OF GETTING HIS HAT-TRICK WITH AN UNLUCKY LEFT FOOTED SHOT WIDE OF THE MARK AND TABOUN WAS GETTING INTO THE GAME WITH DAZZLING RUNS WHICH GOT HIM HIS MOTM AFTER THE GAME AND COULD OF HAD A FEW GOALS BUT MANAGED THE ONE WITH A NICE LOFTED BALL OVER TO TABOUN AS HE VERY WEAKLY SLOTTED THE BALL PAST THE KEEPER FOR 4-1 AND A FINE WIN .
