This week brought an away match in Hereford versus Pegasus Juniors, whose immaculate ground and pitch are a credit to them.
Pegasus kicked off the first half and applied early pressure to the Bilbrook goal, a shot from distance hitting the underside of the bar and bouncing back out. Bilbrook withstood the first 5 minutes and started to push forward themselves. A ball played out of defence was layed off to Kaz by Max. Kaz went on a great run down the left wing, beating a couple of players. His cross found its way to the far post for Sammy to finish. Pegasus 0 – 1 Bilbrook.
Bilbrook were dominant at this point, with Macca again looking classy, spreading the ball about the pitch. A great corner from Sammy, whipped in at pace to the far post caused Pegasus problems, unfortunately, none of our players could get on he end of it. Pegasus fought back, Ben having to head clear twice in quick succession, followed by a strong tackle from Lewis. Elliot then sent a defence splitting ball between the centre back and left back for Tom to race clear, without the support needed, Pegasus snuffed out this opportunity.
On 19 minutes, Pegasus won the ball on the edge of the Bilbrook box, a ball played back was struck with ferocity into the back of the net giving keeper Alex no chance. Pegasus 1 – 1 Bilbrook.
The game now swung in Pegasus’s favour, with their team appearing to be first to everything, Bilbrook chasing shadows. Pegasus controlled the rest of the half with Bilbrook having to try and catch them on the break. Half Time Pegasus 1 – 1 Bilbrook.
The second half saw a number of changes, all 3 subs coming off the bench and also changes to formation. Bilbrook started well, Ben winning plenty of ball in midfield, passing to Macca whose shot was just wide. Bilbrook maintained the pressure, but couldn’t make it pay. Pegasus broke, with a one on one with Alex in goal. Unfortunately, Alex brought down the onrushing forward and the ref pointed to the spot. The penalty was coolly taken giving Pegasus the lead. Pegasus 2 – 1 Bilbrook.
Bilbrook struggled to get anything going, a number of heads appearing to go down! Pegasus continued to push and although Bilbrook tried to push forward, chances were very limited, with the home defence coping quite easily. With minutes to go, Pegasus drove into the box and a cross cut back from the line was put into the Bilbrook goal. Pegasus 3 – 1 Bilbrook.
Pegasus closed out the game to earn a deserved victory.
