So the new season starts with Bilbrook having moved up to the JPLS. A fantastic set up at our opponents Aylestone, was matched by the weather, a great day for a game of football.
The game kicked off with with Aylstone pressing very early, a long bouncing ball into our box was not dealt with and we found ourselves 1-0 down in the first minute. The following 10 minutes saw us looking nervous, with passes going astray and a lack of communication leading to further mistakes.
Slowly but surely, Bilbrook made there prescence felt, winning more and more ball, keeping Aylestone pegged back in their own half. Bilbrook were now creating chances, with both Tom and Sammy having opportunities. Jerome was making life difficult for the Aylestone left back, turning him inside out several times and playing in to Theo. In the 29th minute, Theo cutting into the box from the left struck the ball, which the keeper spilled into his own net. 1-1.
A few minutes later, a ball played with pace found Joe Hayward in the box, who controlled well before hitting a fierce drive. The shot had goal all over it, but the opposition keeper somehow managed to keep it out. Although Bilbrook are on top, Aylestone continue working, both Kian and Arch, having to keep focused to shut them out. Bilbrook’s dominance paid off shortly before half time, with a good passing move culminating in Theo finishing to make it 1-2.
The third quarter (second half) saw Bilbrook passing the ball much better, but
a scramble in our box ended up with Aylsetone equalizing, 2-2. This did not stop Bilbrook from pushing forward, a run into the box from Pickle saw him pushed over, the Ref, pointing to the spot. A well struck penalty from Macca put Bilbrook back in the lead, 2-3.
As the game got to the final 10 minutes, Aylestone pushed, look to draw level, however, the Bilbrook defence remained resolute, closing down well and winning most challenges. A corner from Sammy was headed in by debutant Joe Baker. 2-4.
