Training day at the farm for the animals.
The excitement of playing their closest friends threatened to rule the game as the Sharks chased and pressed well, but the Tigers tried to take them on individually. Sharks took an early lead thanks to a goalkeeping gaff which I'm sure we'll see again on one of the christmas DVDs, reation being more suited to an FA cup final goal. Tigers kept their nerve to find a way down the left before Gerrarrd rounded the defender and hooked the ball past the Sharks keeper.
Both keepers had saves to make to keep the sides at bay, with Sorrrensson perhaps slightly the busier after a couple of good efforts from chev Tenko and Sam Samba. On effort the Sharks shaded the first game with some good pressing and defending, while the Tigers failed to play as a team or hold their positions, 1-1.
Formation changes on both teams saw the introduction of Torrres up front, though finding himself being closely watched by Delanney and Tom Charletone. A good clearance set Torres free down the left before cutting in to drive a low shot past the ever improving Sorrensson, but no banana this time, 1 nil.
Lucien, Jake and Joe all chased well and alongso did have a couple of good chances in front of goal, either pulling the shot wide or hitting the keeper.
Tigers woke up to the task of holding wide positions and passing and found themselves with a corner on the left, a nice cross by De Sar saw torrres plant his forehead on the ball while the others watched, 2 nil.
The second goal sparked more desire from the Sharks and Alongso and Alenski began to chase and win the ball more in the Tigers half. Their pressure paid off when Alongso went through on goal before sliping in Yordan who slid the ball under the advancing kepper Babbell. The period ended 2-1 to the Tigers, but again the Sharks fought well and the Tigers only partialy held positions and passed.
Into the final game with the Tigers now reverting to their strongest lineup, albeit playing with a single defender. Chev Tenko had immediate impact using her power and pace to take on several Sharks before laying the ball off to the waiing Torrres to open the scoring. Jack Haworthington not really having a chance as the ball was hoisted high into the net. The Tigers then decided to watch the Sharks run through after a quick roll in, leaving Lol viddic three on one, which Lucien Alongso happily converted to equalise. De Sar and Viddic were rightfully upset with the lack of cover offered by Gerrrarrd and Torres, something the manager was quick to point out.
The words of encouragment worked as the Tigers midfield held position wide and started to track and pass the ball around. Good work between Gerrarrd and Torres, linking up at times with Tenko and Babbell with nice one touch passing was a joy to watch and on several occassions ended up with the correct result. Further goals came to Gerrrarrd, Babbell, Chev Tenko and Torrres, all by passing and holding position, while flattering 7-1 proves what can be done if the Tigers play as a team, hold positions and pass.
The Sharks played really well with good performances from both Charletone brothers who certainly can put their foot through the ball. Delaney stuck to his task well and yordan, Alongso, Alenski, mascerano, Haworthington never gave up.
