Home league match played on 15 December 2024.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

Aylesbury Vale Dynamos delivered a stunning performance at Fairford Leys on 15 December 2024, securing a resounding 5-1 victory over Wycombe Town in a league home match. The match kicked off at 2:00 pm and showcased the Dynamos' attacking prowess, with standout contributions from several players.

The Dynamos lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, with Charley Sweeny in goal, flanked by a three-man defence comprising Ryan Goldan in the centre, supported by Kai Vaughan on the right and Harrison Walcott on the left. The midfield was packed with Max Cantwell and Noah Weaving on the right and left flanks respectively, while Caleb De Silva and Theo Lewis-Smith operated centrally. Manni Taylor led the line as the lone striker, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances into goals.

The substitutes for the match included Gaetan Yat, Teddy Cheesman, Ali Khan, and Oli White, who would later play crucial roles as the game unfolded.

The Dynamos wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Max Cantwell opening the scoring just three minutes in, converting a short pass from Manni Taylor inside the box with a precise right-footed shot. The early goal set the tone for a relentless attacking display.

Just two minutes later, Theo Lewis-Smith doubled the lead with a spectacular long-range strike, assisted by Vaughan. The Dynamos were in complete control, and it was clear that Wycombe Town were struggling to cope with the relentless pressure.

As the first half progressed, Aylesbury continued to create opportunities, with Manni Taylor himself coming close to scoring but sending his attempt wide. The pressure mounted on Wycombe's defence, with attempts from Kai Vaughan and Max Cantwell both saved by the opposing goalkeeper.

In a concerning moment for the Dynamos, Theo Lewis-Smith had to be substituted due to injury in the 17th minute, making way for Gaetan Yat. Shortly after, further changes were made as Teddy Cheesman replaced Harrison Walcott, and Ali Khan came on for Noah Weaving, all within a minute of each other.

Despite the substitutions, the Dynamos maintained their attacking momentum, with attempts from Ali Khan and Kai Vaughan being saved. Ryan Goldan also showcased his defensive capabilities, making a crucial tackle to prevent a chance for Wycombe.

The first half concluded with Aylesbury leading 2-0, but the second half promised more action. The Dynamos made further substitutions, bringing back Max Cantwell, Harrison Walcott, and Manni Taylor, who had all been pivotal in the first half.

The second half saw Aylesbury continue their assault, with Manni Taylor scoring the third goal in the 52nd minute, tapping in from close range after a short pass from Max Cantwell. The Dynamos were now firmly in control, and the match seemed to be slipping away from Wycombe. Max Cantwell was then fouled in the penalty area and Harrison Walcott stepped up to take. Unfortunately this time the Wycombe goalkeeper made a good save and retained the ball.

Wycombe Town managed to pull one back in the 43rd minute with a fluke goal, giving them a glimmer of hope. However, that hope was quickly extinguished when Teddy Cheesman followed up on his missed penalty mid way through the second half, restoring the Dynamos' three-goal cushion.

As the match drew to a close, Max Cantwell added a fifth goal in the 59th minute, tapping in from close range after a well-placed cross from Kai Vaughan, capping off a remarkable performance for the Dynamos.

The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 5-1 victory for Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, with Kai Vaughan earning the Player of the Match accolade for his outstanding contributions both defensively and offensively. The Dynamos will take great confidence from this performance as they look to build on their success in the league.
