AFC Titans 5-4 Prospect Res
AFC Titans for the second week, made hard work of it in The Cup. Prospect Res were the Visitors at River View Stadium, Apperley Bridge in The District Cup.
Titans seemed to be taking control early on as Both Mick Dougan & Gareth Dorber came close.
Plenty of pressure from the Home side but nothing to show.
A slight error on 14mins from The Titans Defense let The Prospect striker through one on one to slot home the opener.
AFC Titans soon had the game back under control coming close again with Danny Price from a neat Danny Longlegs corner. Again it was a set piece corner from Danny Longley that skimmed Danny Prices shinny head to go wide at the far post for a 2nd time.
The equalizer looked nailed on as The Home Side upped the pressure. 30mins and some dazzling footwork down the right flank from Gareth Shaw put Mick Dougan in for his 15 of the season to level the score.
It was only 5mins later that Prospect sneaked back into the lead again to go into half time 2-1 up.

Out of the blocks quick The Reds pressed forward. Anthony Anderton received the ball on the edge of the Blues box and managed to slot a pass through to Gareth Shaw who picked his spot at the near post to level up. happy to be back on level terms The Titans switched off and immediately let The Visitors back in front 2mins later.
Plenty of pressure from The Home side paid dividends on 60mins as Mick Dougan hit his second to pull The Hosts back in it. A nice assist from Danny Longbottom made it easy for Mick.
It looked like both sides were settling for Pens but Prospect were handed a lifeline on 74mins when Danny up ended the Res striker after getting skinned down the right !.
3-4 and all looked lost as the minutes ticked away.
80mins and The Titans were awarded a corner. Up popped Danny Wells to nod home after a goal mouth scramble to bring it level for the fourth time in the game.
Penalties ensued as Mr Jarvis looked at his watch.
Into the last minute and a slide rule pass down the left picked out Mick Dougan. Mick dodged a tackle & found himself on the edge of the box in space. A speculative strike from the Titans top scorer , had the unsighted Prospect keeper rooted to the spot as the ball nestled in the far corner.
Battled to the end and probably just edged it against a decent Prospect team.
