Eccleshill Punjab FC fought hard `between themselves` to keep AFC Titans in single figures !
Peel Park was the venue for AFC Titans as visitors to Eccleshill Punjab.
Titans had the majority of the play from the off as they put Punjab under pressure going uphill. Mick Dougan squandered chance after chance after some good link up work from both Jay Gill & Gareth `1970s`Dorber.In form Danny Longley had to step up and show the leading scorer how it’s done on 14min with a thunderous strike from 30 yds out that nestled in the far corner.
Not to be out done Mick Dougan doubled The Visitors advantage 6mins later after a neat assist from fellow striker Anthony Preston.
More of the same from AFC Titans as the first half progressed with both Anthony Preston and Mick Dougan going close. The Titans limited The Home side to just a handful of chances but the Eccy Strikers couldn`t avoid the offside trap expertly dictated by the Away sides defense. Some good play between the back 4, Dan Wells, Mark Lajca, M.O.M. Sam Preston & Danny `Whiplash` Price.
Just before the break a dubious assist from Mark Lajca`s long throw put Mick Dougan in for his 2nd of the game with Captain Anthony Preston setting up Mick`s Hatrick on 44mins.
As the hosts fought to get back in the game an altercation ensued. With handbags at the required 10 paces they went toe to toe with each other. Despite a discrete feel up by 1970`s Dorber it ended with the dismissal of the Punjab number 10.
HT: 0-4
More of the same from The Blues in the 2nd half as in form Sam `BAM BAM` Thornton latched onto an Anthony Preston pass to jinx his way through the static defense & make it 5-0 on 46min.Mick Dougan found the net yet again 6 minutes later to make it 4 on the day and 12 for the season. More fisty cuffs from the Eccleshill lads had them down to 9 men not long after as The Visitors cranked up the pressure. An inspired substitution from The Titans management team saw Gareth Shaw come on and boss the left wing. A neatly taken goal on 55min put the game well and truly out of reach for the 9 men in orange.
Anthony Preston finally got off the mark for the season with a brace before the end to make it 9 on the day, A final sending off from The Home side left The Visitors with 1 less player than goals scored by The Titans at the final whistle.
FT: 0-9
