A spirited Cwmaman Youth team came up to Golf Rd in Abernants 3rd friendly of the pre season.
The game started at a high tempo from the off, with the home side dominating the opening exchanges, but it was the away team who had the first chance with a shot fired from outside the box going wide of the post, it wasn't until the 16th minute when Abernant played some neat football from the back where a great ball was played to the feet of Ioannis Davies by Gary Owen, where he beat the last defender and shot passed the despairing dive of the keeper, 1 nil to the Nant.
Cwmaman made their first raft of changes as 5 subs were made on the 20th minute
The 1st half continued to be lively, where both team showed their attacking spirit, but it was Abernant who scored the second where the home team showed patient build play resulting in a corner, from which Daniel Sumpter took where it found the head of Nat Hagget as he leaped like a salmon, 2 nil to the nant,
The 2nd wave off changes were made by Cwmaman with another 5 subs being used
The home team were in control of the rest of the half, with little opportunities for the away team, 2 - 0 to the Nant at half time.
The second half got underway with no changes made by the home team, where they carried on with their patient football, the away team carried to hustle and niggle at the home team but neat inter-play by the home team ended in a goal by David Day, where a great through ball was played by Dai Roberts which found the feet of Day at the edge of the box where he coolly beat the last defender where he shot with his outside of his boot beating the despairing dive of the keeper.
3 - 0 nil to the Nant, the 3rd wave of replacements were made by Cwmaman with another 5 fielding the pitch,
Abernant looked in full control of the game but to the credit of Cwmaman they kept trying and their efforts were dually rewarded when a neat pass found their forward where he shot from the edge of the box, the home teams keeper looked to made a smart save to his right but spilled the into his own net, this gave the away team some hope and they put Abernant on the back foot and the pressure paid off with another shot coming from the away teams forward from just inside of the box going low and hard to the home teams keeper left for the same result as the home keeper failed to deal with shot, 3 - 2 the Nant.
Cwmaman made their last substitutions with another 5 coming on, with the Nant now trying to steady the game to which they did the final whistle went to an entertaining game where both teams playing their part, final score Abernant Rovers 3 - 2 Cwmaman Youth AFC.
