Malvern City FC was founded in 1976 by a group of local residents. The club's first home ground was Gardiner Park, but they moved to Sir Zelman Cowen Park in 1982.
The club has won the Victorian State League 1 championship once, in 2008. They have also won the Dockerty Cup twice, in 2007 and 2010.
